Is there an off the shelf autozone type available filter that will work on the Caterhams with Duratec power?

I believe so. Just look up Ford Focus with the 2L engine in the cross reference. That's what I did but don't remember right now which one it was exactly (@ work)...

Just make sure you search for the later Duratec-powered Focus models. It should be 2005 and later.

Here is what I found out. What comes on the car as part of the engine ancilliary package is a UFI 2311800, these were I think first available on some Renault models and as much as I could tell also used on Lotus Europa's. WIX has a cross-referenced stubby filter, 51335. I grabbed a WIX filter that was designated for the 2010 2.0l Focus, and I believe it would have no problem fitting either. So, in about another 300 miles I'll change out the oil and filter and post back here..

the spec'd filter for the zetec in a Fukkus is too tall to fit in a 7 SV, so I had to match the filter product number to find out what car it was actually meant for. It turned out my filter also worked on older v6 camrys. I suggest u try that or buy a duratec filter first and see if it actually can fit enough to slide onto the port before doing teh oil change.

A quick search I did indicated that the WIX 51348 would be the suitable filter, but the 51215 might work as well (might not have the anti-drain back valve that the 51348 has; it is unclear). Both of these are the same size stubby type.

edit - Gol-dang, that 51335 filter is short! Less than 2-1/2 inches high!

51335 was remarkably stubby, so I remarked
