Mounting front cycle fenders.

Had a great meet today with another 7 owner in the city. Great guy, and I understand he lurks here. With his help and tools we pulled off the front clamshells and although I love the look, I'd like to minimize harassment from the po-po, so I'm looking to see what kind of cycle fender mounting solutions are out there.

Here's what I have to work with:

Here she is sans clams and the cycles thrown on for looks:

Cosmetically I think the front suspension needs a black paintjob, I'd like to ditch the front grill (or paint it black), and swap the windshield for a pair of Brooklands. I'd also like to put a flat black stripe along the side to break up the slab look a la Caterham R500:

Ugh, so many little things I can do to make it stand out!

Oyagi,

Here is a JPEG of a model that would work with your front suspension setup. It would clamp to the modified shock strut spindle and then support the cycle fender above the wheel. Just an idea.

Hope this helps as it would be simple to make I feel.

That jpeg is great, thanks! Is there a ready-made kit out there that I can just buy?

I bought the cycle wings off the eBay.uk site from a seller called vicfibretech. They were very well priced at $65+shipping. They can paint it for you free of charge. Highly recommend them.

Btw twobone, my buddy owns a vinyl decal cutting company. If you're interested, I can get a set made for you too. I'm thinking of doing the double side stripes with "SE7EN" on the sides and maybe a bonnet stripe as well. Once he gets the measurement off my car I think I might do a group buy on this forum with proceeds to the admin crew:)

Oyagi,

I do not think so you willhave to make them yourself. Their is a company called Kenitic Vehicles http://www.kineticvehicles.com/index.html that might be able to make a setup for you as Jack worked with the CMC 7 company when they were still in business and the front end of your car looks a lot like their front end from what I have seen and read.

Make sure you follow the directions on Kinetics contact page if you try to get ahold of them.

Hope tis helps.

Where did you find the cycle wings? I'm thinking of doing that as well. Love the black stripe treatment. Go for it!

Being incredibly cheap-minded, I make my own light-weight

aluminum fenders.

What are you filling your clamshell bolt holes with?

I think in the short term I'll just run out to a hardware store and look for black rubber plugs. Later I will get them filled the sides repainted.

Can your buddy hook me up?

Its a lot of complex curves, would I be better to paint it?

I'm thinking you'd better paint it. I can supply you with enough vinyl and maybe you'll need to cut it to size with an x-acto and be good with some soapy water, squeegee and a heat gun. A good tint shop should be able to help.
