twobone Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Perspectives on these tires for street driving?
Guest speedcraft Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 ive got a few different sets in 185/13, 205/13, and 225/13 combinations. reasonably priced and good in the dry. they wear like nails. sidewall is a little too stiff IMO for the lighter 7's. ok on wet roads but not with standing water.
yellowss7 Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I'm on a set of them now after years on the Avon CR500's. The R888's are noticably heavier than the Avons. As for road use they also seem to be a slightly harder compound, and should wear longer. Have not had them out in the wet. Tom
BMW RACER Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 I'm thinking of trading in my 14x6's for some 13x7 Panasports and using the 225x13 888. I've raced on the 888's they are a little quicker than the shaved RA1's. But slower than the Hoosier. They are a little stiffer abd require less camber (could be good for a street car) They wear out a little quicker than the RA1 as well. But I still think they are option for the street.
Boxologist Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 running the 15" sizes. one of my rear 225s picked up a 16 penny nail thru tread and out the side wall last month at an event, so i'll be on 205s all around. They have been fine all season since i've had them and done admirably in the rain. as our cars no weight, extra caution is needed in the rain.
