pretty cool night

last night I took FRANKN7 out for a spin... had to run to the storage warehouse, another stop, meet an old friend for a brew, and back.

so, I get to the warehouse, and the guy next door is loading stuff into his van. He stops what he's doing and walks over. He had seen my car in storage before and talked to my sister in law about it (it's her space, I sublease). So he says "do you drive over by Glen road?", I'm like yes, i do. He says "you probably don't remember me... I have an old Dogde Omni Shelby". Of course I remember him... saw him about a year ago... his car looked completely stock, but like new. Very sharp, and actually pretty fast.

He goes on to tell me it's being "freshened up" with a 450hp motor. He could tell I was getting in and out quick, but said would love a ride sometime... so I'm like Hop in. So off we went. I think 2nd gear was his favorite. Came off a turn, rolled into it in 2nd, car stepping out slightly, then full throttle - tires barely gripping the entire way up the gear.

Go to meet my friend, park the car, go in. I'm a little early, just sitting there enjoying a cold brew. See a couple of guys looking the car over. Didn't think much of it. 5 minutes later I look again, and notice one of them is a cop. f*&$. Forgot parking meter. I run out there and start talking to the guy. He asks a few questions, then says "go ahead and feed the meter!" Close call!

When it was time to leave the place, it was a mini-circus. Had a couple of guys in a STi, trying to get me to come play, couple of other guys kept asking questions... took like 10 minutes to leave the spot.

I took the wife for a ride Saturday. It was in the mid 60's and on some winding roads for about 100 miles. Three times I got behind some H.D. bikes, but not for long. Each time some hot dog makes a run on me, they are too easy. I'm sure glad I see very few real bikes out there, as the story would have a differnt ending.

She loves to ride in this little box, never complains about speed or drifting some turns. She hates to fly with me though??

I might have to come back for more... flying was pretty fun. Just need to get used to it

No cool nights here. We had 113 degrees today in Downtown LA, apparently the highest on record for this time of the year. *Only* 109 degrees here in Pasadena.

Still 85 degrees right now at 8:45 pm. Can somebody stop that, please?

I still have to finish the front end rebuild of my car but working in the driveway at such temperature isn't that great.

Yesterday at my office in Simi Valley it was 117 degrees by our private weather station that is in the lab.

Really was not that bad inside of the office with the AC but when I went out to my car to drive home it was stiffling and my cars AC was not up to the task mainly because it is black Miata and had been sitting in the direct sun light all day and the AC unit most likely needs to be serviced as it is a 1996 an the AC hardly is ever used as the top works so easy.

Today is much better outside here in Simi Valley its only 89 degrees at the present by our weather equipment.
