trough doctor Posted November 18, 2010 Posted November 18, 2010 I would like to set up a lapping day at mosports driver development track sometime in the summer. I am hoping to attract as many 7's as possible from the area. I live about 25 mins from the track. We could meet at my place and and drive up together. I am still in the process of finding out the particulars. Will need to get approx 30 cars to keep entry fee at about $100 per car. let me know if there is any interest. Other cars are welcome as well.
twobone Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 I am 100% in!!!! The Mosport DD track is perfect for a 7 Sign me up!
twobone Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 I can probably get a bunch of Porsche 911 guys as well thru a Rennlist forum
Jawfish Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Well althought not in the area, maybe... I do have to two the thing, but it would be fun to go out and play with other Se7ens My club is organising 2 event on the Big track Thursday June 23rd and Thanksgiving Monday October 10th... Cheers, Fred
L8 Apexr Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 I live a couple hours away and would love to be involved if someone makes this happen next year.
Boxologist Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Some of teh NE se7ens would probably be very interested as well.
trough doctor Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 I have confirmation of Monday June 13th. I have never been to a track day let alone organize one. I will keep everyone posted as more information becomes available. Like I said would like to attract as many 7's, lotus and british cars as possible. Having said that I will also need to fill the grid, so as the date draws nearer and still have spots open will have to extend invitation to other cars as well.
twobone Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Sounds great....thanks for organizing! I guess this spring its time to change the old cracked tires for something sticky (Toyo R888)
trough doctor Posted December 22, 2010 Author Posted December 22, 2010 For the entry of $100 we would need 30 cars. I am wondereing if it makes more sense to get 20 cars at $150. I have never driven the track and dont want it to be too crowded. Any thoughts on a good # of cars to sign up?
yellowss7 Posted December 22, 2010 Posted December 22, 2010 Plenty of different ways to run it. I'm no expert having only done about 5 trackdays. You can run either an open pit, which allows cars to go in and out, no heats. Or you can run 2 or more heats. 20-30 minutes at a time is plenty. That allows you to spread out the numbers on track at one time for safety and it also allows you to put the faster drivers in one heat and the novices in another. Most track days I've run with, have 3 to 5 heats and you usually get 4 to 6 sessions. For me that was PLENTY of track time. 2 hours plus on track at speed. You look forward for the down time, It's also a good thing to give time to refuel, check hoses, coolant and oil levels, air pressure, lug nut torque, etc. I'm sure more experienced trackday guys can provide additional advice. Tom
ptrxly Posted December 31, 2010 Posted December 31, 2010 Count me in also. I have done a few track days at the Driver Development Track and it is perfect for a Seven. For me, the "Big Track" is just too fast, bumpy and has too many close guard rails to be comfortable in light cars like ours. It will be great to do some laps with other Sevens and I will spread the word to other local Brit car owners. Peter
L8 Apexr Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I'm interested as well, might have a couple other guys as well.Ones running a 1st gen Rx7 thats run the Targa Newfoundland a couple times and a buddy is building cobra coupe that might be ready by then. I have my bike engined sort of seven'ish autox/track toy, about to megasquirt it shortly so if the wiring and tune goes well I'll let you know.
