Wife says you can have only one: 2001 BMW M3, 2003 Boxsgter S, 1999-2001 Porsche 911

Discuss among yourselves. Wife is tired of having no room in the garage and old cars that require her meeting me at AAA pickup places when the old cars, including the 7 break down.

She is forcing a choice:

2001 BMW M3 versus 2003-2005 Porsche Boxter S versus 1999-2001 Porsche 911 (early 996).

Your thoughts (besides disposing of wife or enlarging garage)?

Sell them all and get one newer car that you really want. Of course, all of those seem like new cars to me..... After years of playing with old British crocks, my 92 Miata seems like a new car!

All nice cars. Don't see a bad decision, whatever you do.I wld probly choose the Boxter (or Cayman?). I have toyed w/selling my '08 M3 because there is simply no way to exploit its potential away from a race track. So I have a large investment in a car that I can only really use a few times a year. And I get lousy gas mileage all the time.

start leaving mormon pamphlets around the house. wait a month a go car shopping. i would make the odd man out one of the porsches. which car do u prefer the least?

For me it would be the convertible - so Boxter. Same answer for a daily driver provided I didn't live in the snow belt. I don't recall the Boxter years with the bad engines but I would consider tracking down the scoop on any of the listed cars.

For a 911 i would go for a 1989 Porsche 911 in silver please.

Trade them all in for a c6 zo6. Best bargin available. Faster than most cars on the road + 30 mpg at 55 if u can keep your foot out of it. Great daily driver. Disadvantage....you can't get in a convertible.

Right now my daily driver is a 2001 M3. IMHO it is gorgeous and I love it but it is kind of heavy to throw around compared to the Porsches. Also, you have to be careful because the rear end goes out on you as part of the driving experience. Really a killer road and track car. I used to think of the Boxster as a safe compromise like a Miata. I've had a Miata and loved it, but it was tame (Didn't have the turbo). I have been hearing all kinds of glowing stuff about the regular driving experience of the Boxster S and need to reconstruct my ideas about it in my head.

Ruadhd2,

Take the Boxster S. You will find it to be a lot of fun and will make the wife happy as she will even like driving it. You should also look at the Cayman (the hard top version of the Boxster) as it is more refined and handles even better and has more HP.
