Black Hills-Yellowstone Picture Thread

Recommended Posts

We all have a lot of pictures and we decided that it would be best to post them in a new thread, since the main thread has grown so large. We also didnt want to make the main thread too bandwidth heavy to browse.

The main thread should remain the main chronicle of the tour, so dont skip reading :o)

Somewhere around the middle of Wyoming:

This super-cell was out-run by some super-sevens.

This hail ball fell the week before we arrived in Custer. The campground manager saved it in his refrigerator. He invited me to drive onto his porch if more came!

I was the only one camping. The worst weather we had was just some Seattle style mist falling from the fog. I think we were in the clouds up in the Black Hills that night.

1975 Twin Cam Caterham. I love that car, so it gets 2 pics.

5MPH means we can do it at 15, right?

This picture is a failure. But it is artistic so it stays.

What I didn't know at the moment I took this picture is that several of the drivers and passengers were trying to get the taste of cow pie out of their mouths. I shit you not!

Cow Patties? That rings a bell. Oh yes, here are two photos from the PNW2007 tour that show Dion and Bill (with his old Birkin) trying to wash cow poop off their cars. Hopefully they learned their lesson and avoided the mess on this trip!

I'm sure somebody has a better pic without a thumb, but this is the Beartooth Hwy. You can see it snaking around. I'm sure glad I got to drive it the next day (with the new alternator).

Well the only Picasa photos I can see are Gert's but there were VERY nice. Some of those panorama photos were really nice. Too bad there was not a seven are each end of the panorama to bracket the scene :)

I'm going to upload some Black Hills Tour photos, in groups of four (hope I don't overload things!). Not too familiar with how this is done...

I'll add captions here, to go with each group of photos.

#1 Sevens parked at Wind Cave NP, their occupants ready to descend into the cave.

#2 Beautiful sweeping mountain curves, little traffic, Black Hills.

#3 Bob Simon performs fuel pump replacement with fuel tank in situ. Herb performs sahib role.

#4 Night scene at the Rocket Motel, our Tour HQ.

#6 Beautiful Black Hills sweepers.

#7 Only to be impeded by a lollygagging 'Vette driver who would not pull over...

Here is the last batch of Black Hills Tour photos.

#14 We took the longer route -- which turned out to include about 20 miles of dirt.

#15 Derek Walker at speed, in the oldest Seven on the Tour.

#16 Gert and Rosie watching the rainstorm, high above Dayton, Wyoming.
