Russian AA-12 Fully Automatic Shotgun

I purchased a USAS 12 - 12 gauge Korean made semi automatic that would only reliably fire Winchester 2 -3/4" 00 buck rounds. No recoil but very heavy to carry all day. Tried many different factory & hand - loads but Winchester always worked flawlessly. Did extensive work to it including teflon coating, door breach / flash supressor (My design but flash supressor didn't work worth a squat.) Sold it when it became a destructive device & required registration in Kalifornia. It definitely had it's purpose. With 20 round rotary dumb and 8 shot stick mags.

I bought it after the Rodney King riots in which I and several others had to spend 3 days & nights on the roof of our building to keep it from being burnt down - oil / gasoline cocktails preferred by the locals. We watched many other buildings get looted & burn. National guard was called in late and you know what (Most didn't have bullets for their guns until later & watched) At that time, we had 3 Remington 1100s - 12 Gauge 30” full choke shotguns that made a perfect pattern just inside of our walls with 00 Buck (Left over from my Grandfather during the Watts riots of the 60s). We also had an M1A - 308 scoped & a Remington 700 - 308 scoped just to make sure we were able to defend ourselves incase someone thought of us as targets when we were on the roof. Our building didn’t get burned and the neighborhood looks better but I do expect this to happen again in our lifetimes.

Would I want another 20 round shotgun – no – too heavy to carry & run with, bulky mags , bulky gun if I were clearing a house or in a confined space. Newer semi or full auto shotguns / rifles & handguns are definitely better. Don’t get me wrong, the newer 20 round drum shotguns definitely have their purpose just not for me.
