lancylad Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 Way to go.....party time...congrats Duane. Soon get some blacktop under those tyres.
Jackal Posted April 14, 2013 Author Posted April 14, 2013 Still have the coolant to do, and be sure the brakes and clutch are properly taken care of first. Out of Province is the next big challenge though.
lancylad Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 There you go Duane...no sweat! it gets easier from now on....Really!
Jackal Posted April 15, 2013 Author Posted April 15, 2013 This weekend it was a little cool to work on her. I have a few projects yet to go on it, and I have found out that I am being sent away for work for a week very soon. I'll be heading to Hickory North Carolina for a visit to one of our vendors manufacturing facilities. I'll be halfway across the country and missing one of the best driving roads by 160 miles. :driving: http://www.tailofthedragon.com/
Jackal Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 I changed the coolant today in Beatrice. Here's what it looked like. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/65D01663-1188-48E5-B3CF-611379513F76-1404-000001773578DD79_zps762c8e95.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/701E46C2-AE5F-4708-88CE-D7916C4A6206-1404-000001783BBC61C0_zpsc945b812.jpg After draining the coolant into the pail, I found a washer fluid bottle to look at the coolant over time. I was reasonably pleased to see that there was some pretty noticeable settling in the bottle, and nothing that appears to be oil floating on top. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/E1F2CC67-6EDE-4A32-89A4-AE0096D4436A-194-0000000ECD79C7DC_zps2ea1b8a6.jpg
Jackal Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 I need to install another temp sensor for the gauge on the dash, so while the system is empty I figured now is the time. Unfortunately the bung is a different thread than the sensor, so I'll be ordering up an Autometer T adapter to install the sensor in the bypass line back to the pump. Unfortunately thats a few days away so the system will be sitting until then. I moved on to the coolant reservoir that also needed sorting. I have had the parts for weeks, but have only just got to work on it. I'll just let the pictures do the talking. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/36D2CE86-285E-4DEF-9266-B8181A423BED-194-0000000F464D94DC_zpsa414edb8.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/6531863A-D45A-4F17-BD9F-ECD17793C055-194-0000000F34120025_zps958eb061.jpg
Jackal Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 I did find a small challenge with the coolant system, so I decided to fix it as well. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/43e5898e-9250-489d-a35b-aaec705801ff_zps04df6783.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/de11d12a-4fa5-4b4e-bc7c-b9210c5ff9d4_zps6f90a3fa.jpg A quick cut of the pipe and a little rerouting, and the steering shaft shouldn't rub the coolant line. Stupid that I didn't catch it the first go around. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/33b18bed-ffeb-4a2e-b28d-3f0b8a8a2628_zpsd20516e0.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/58507ff4-a592-4d61-a277-e9499ee9a710_zpsbbf87b15.jpg
Jackal Posted April 20, 2013 Author Posted April 20, 2013 I received a little bling for the car today as well. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/FD2B1E9A-DBD9-4613-B474-0B005F0C22AC-194-0000000F672CFA21_zps538c508d.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/11E9A6DE-A16C-4C40-9A86-5BBD5FE82C13-194-0000000F5D2E16F5_zps8c30f249.jpg
KiwiBirkin Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Duane love the rear bag, where did you get it from. ??
lancylad Posted April 22, 2013 Posted April 22, 2013 Glad you spotted that coolant pipe...what the updated on the road celebration day? The travel bag looks great, lets put it to use! ;-)
Jackal Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 Duane love the rear bag, where did you get it from. ?? I got it from a vendor on Ebay, but it seems he's the same fellow from thundersport. http://www.thundersport.co.uk/luggage/series3/s3-boot-bag-vinyl-45.html On the Birkin S3 the fit is a bit snug around the roll bar supports, but as the bag gets worn in the fit should be spot on. The quality is fantastic, the guy was very prompt in responding, and it shipped blisteringly quick.
Jackal Posted April 22, 2013 Author Posted April 22, 2013 Glad you spotted that coolant pipe...what the updated on the road celebration day? The travel bag looks great, lets put it to use! ;-) I'm not sure if it was me per say, or the shop that ran the line that way. They were the last ones to assemble that section of pipe after a modification to the pump. Rear brakes bled tonight, and a last rinse of the blocks jacket before adding one T for the temp sensor and filling the coolant system. New Jenvey Manifold is on route now, and I hope to be seeing it in a week. Until then she's without a hood, but that's not needed for the tune anyway. I hope to have the tune done before the end of the month and the out of province when I get back from Hickory NC. the first week of May.
Jackal Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 Got a few bits in today. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/DE94BBFB-A87A-4ECF-BB94-E67357753D05-6693-000007E99BFED58B_zps1f38c14b.jpg Also made this today to help pressure bleed the rear brakes. I have had issues pressurizing the rear brakes with vacuum brake bleeders at the wheels. I heard some folks say that they had more success with a pressure bleeder. I added a tire valve to a caper bottle lid and with the help of a bicycle pump and a delicate hand, i should have a perfect pressure bleeder. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/6EA5A06A-09A2-4B4B-A91B-B247F2A86286-6693-000007E98DF0C185_zps8f816278.jpg
