Get it the hell out of that shop. You know what you have to do to satisfy the powers that be. You have come to far and gone thru so much, don't pack it in now. Is what this shop is doing something you cant do yourself, there is a huge amount of combined knowledge on this forum, tap into it. All easy to say, you are the one on the recieving end of all this crap.

The problem I have now is if the shop has put me on the AT radar for these items, then it doesn't matter where I go. Eventually I'll be registering it and subject to a possible follow up inspection from AT.

I really am frustrated to the point of just not finishing it.

Hi Duane,

try looking at it another way, (easy for me to say) the items youve mentioned are all you need to do now to get the car on the road, it seems. Im not at work this week so if you need help pm me. The bumpers to get you through OOP are available in Calgary, pending brackets of course. Your steps away from being on the road, keep the faith and lets get her done.

Bill.

Ok Duane, you have got time, sweat, emotion , not to mention a few tears invested in this car and you are so close to getting it done. As we have said, you know what is needed to get it past the powers that be. Don't let these pillocks beat you. Take Bill up on his offer you couldn't have a better guy to help get you thru this.

Bumpers? That must be a mistake. My 04' Birkin was originally registered in AB and it's never had bumpers...

I know that in BC, the Birkin and Caterham kits have validation from the Registrar of Imported Vehicles and don't require any significant mods to the standard kit. The inspection and registration sheet had many N/A's in several categories. Could it be that the garage or AT has mis-classified your build?

So this is what happens when I forget to put a bolt into the top mount of the rad fan.

thats a bit unfortunate Duane. Are you any further ahead yet with your other problems? as you said you would be working on her this past weekend.

Bill.

That was if I was able to bring her home. Unfortunately she wasn't ready, again.

The rad is getting welded now, the alternator pully and new battery are in the back of my car, and I should be able to see her on the dyno before the end of this week, but I'm at a point where I've stopped holding my breath.

First attempt from my buddy at fixing the rad has created a bigger issue. Lets see what a proper rad shop can do from this.

So she has been tuned. 116 HP, and 119 ft/lb of torques. Not monster numbers, but what I expected from the motor, and easily able to be added to. I have to learn to not be so ham fisted behind the wheel before that happens though.

Did you put those tyre marks on the road????

No sir. Not my tire marks, and not from my shop either. Just coincidence that they happened to appear since my last visit.

Duane,

Congrats!!!! How is the registration moving along?

X

I have a few little items to sort out, so the time between now and the 23rd. That's when one of our members will be back from The Grizzly Bear Blat and be able to have a look at it for OOP.
