NJMP events. Rules and regs?

I plan to do the track days at NJMP next year but are there any specific regulations published as far as safety and car mods required? I have all my race gear to current standards although helmet is SA2000.

I am planning a few car mods over the winter anyway including a full setup and repeating some mods I did to my race Westfield in the UK. Seats don't have headrests yet either so hat needs doing.

Anything specific I should be doing? Couple of UK trips coming so opportunities to bring back parts.

This year was the last year for the SA2000 helmets. I have to get a new one as mine was a 2000 too. SA2005 or SA2010 are required. Must be full shield too if I remember correctly.

Arm Restrainst aren't required but recommended. Brake lights must work. Battery tie down secure. They will check that the tires aren't corded. They will check that you don't have any leaks, that your wheels/bearings don't have any play. I don't belive they check on the date of your harnesses but may check that they aren't frayed.

You are responsible for the general tech of your car. Brake pads and Fluid. Bonnet catches must be secure. Long pants are required. That's about it.

Thanks. That is useful. Of course to really enjoy means getting the car mechanically perfect so plenty do this winter.

Other than seeing the events posted here, is there a last to get on?

Long pants are required.

They also specify cotton or natural fiber clothes - they checked my label at tech inspection. Clearly I was not as fashionable as Tom! :cooldude:

Best place to find racing gear other than at NJMP is Driving impressions in Dover NJ (ring first as they screw around opening times regularly) or Stable Energies in Clifton NJ. Stable Energies was really helpful for me replacing my helmet last season.

We will probably try to organize a sevens event for next season say May to July. Tom and I were dreaming up plans this week. I have you on my regional sevens contacts list so I will PM everybody plus post here when we know what we are up for.

If you want to try for a track day ahead of that then you are looking at signing up for something with SDCA or other organized group member days where you will need to demonstrate past experience (resume of racing history) to get into an intermediate passing group. Tom and I are trying to coordinate calendars when the 2012 schedule comes out as it is more fun to run with another seven - so we can rope you in at that point.

Thanks for the advice. New helmet on the shopping list.

I have plenty of racing experience in the UK that can be evidenced if required and would prefer not to get stuck in a starter group if possible.

BTW, I still interpret 'long pants' as boxers rather than briefs! Won't take that thought any further though...
