WestTexasS2K
Found this item today. It's a fuel surge tank with a mounted pump. This small tank feeds the motor your current pump feeds this tank and overflows back to main tank. Good solution for fuel starvation. http://www.intengineering.com/Integrated-Engineering-p8917399-1-2.html
rzempel
$239 seems a bit much. for about $15 I fabricated a cylindrical tank and mounted it vertically forward of the fuel tank along the centerline. Fuel level stays the same as in the main tank, but can't expose the pickup until the main tank is virtually empty. No extra pumps, no complication, very inexpensive, and totally effective. Ian7
...and for those of us with limited fabrication skills, fill your cell with race cell foam; more than 15 bucks but way less than 239.
WestTexasS2K
Fill your tank with a the foam you want. It won't make any difference in a long sweeper if you have 1/4 tank of fuel. Blew my engine because of it. Boosted engine and no fuel don't play well together 239.00 is cheaper than 4000.00 for another engine. It's a good option for those none fabricators in the group. WestTexasS2K
Rzepel for your sump tank to stay at the same level as the fuel tank you have to have a fitting on the bottom of the tank. Some racing sanctioning bodies don't allow fitting on the bottom of a fuel cell they have to be mounted on top of the tank. So yours will work good for autox or some DE events, but may not pass some tech inspections. This is a good option for folks meeting those rules. rnr
The previous owner of my Ultralite made an external surge tank that worked quite well (documented at http://members.rennlist.com/tweedt/s2k.htm). I have since removed it after going to a full-on fuel cell but it is another option for folks who dont want to spend the full $
Birkin42
I prefer the idea of the surge tank inside the fuel cell. It just has trap doors to let fuel in but not let it out. No extra plumbing outside the tank with just your pressure, return and vent lines. You can do this arrangement with the pump in the tank mounted surge tank, or outside the tank with the pickup in the surge tank.

Reality is though that's more of a manifestation of an inadequate ECU than anything else, "some" ECU's turn everything off when there is No fuel detected in the comb chamber. They are well designed to.. Boost doesn't suffer inadequacy lightly.
