This is the stock R400 muffler, which we think is dreadful and isn't going on the car. So its a re-think as to what we fit. Your thoughts?

My Duratec powered Birkin uses a similarly sized muffler. I will be interested in what you use as a substitute.

Wow, that muffler looks like a Victorian steam boiler!

This is the muffler we used on a CSR we built in 2007. Made in the UK by Chessman who build Mclaren's pipes.

Yep that is the standard Caterham muffler. Its supposedly larger as it is a "cool touch" type. I have the burns to prove it too! :rolleyes:

 

How was the noise on the Chessman muffler for the CSR? Too loud for street or track?

 

I believe your catalytic converter has dropped off accidentally just in case you were not aware and need it for registration? ;)

Terry: What is the purpose of the cable running on the left side of the chassis and ends near the radiator in your second picture?

It's the heater control, heater is not yet installed, when it is the cable goes round 360 deg
