Alaskossie
Here's a Caterham Seven with 157,000 track miles: http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=25607&utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_content=html&utm_campaign=2012-5-1 It apparently still has its original engine and gearbox. So much for a Seven being a high-strung, fair-weather toy, spending most of its time in the repair shop....
Croc
Having driven one of the Bookatrack sevens with a duratec I can confirm that they may have had a hard life but they lavish maintenance on these cars to keep them in tip top shape. Probably better maintained than half the cars with owners on this forum.
scannon
It would be interesting to see the maintenance record for this car. It would give an indication of the life cycle for some of the major wear components such as wheel bearings, CV joints and the like. Although it still has the original engine and gearbox, it didn't say whether there were any overhauls or parts replacement. 157k track miles is an astounding figure when you consider a track mile is equal to somewhere between 5 and 10 road miles.
