Probably not possible, unless you are already a mechanic who has big connections somewhere. Not saying people haven't done it for less - they probably have - in the UK.

I have heard of a guy named Jim down here in Atlanta with an SV that said he would buy Focus engines out of junk yards for a few hundred bucks and just ran them hard till they died and then would get another.

I paid $1K for my Duratec w/9K miles 3 months ago. Plus $2.5K to my mechanic to install. Still, pretty cheap power.

Sorry to break the news - but I bought the car today. I had known about it before you posted, also hesitated because of the Miata driveline. Decided to go for it Saturday - but because of a holdup on their end didn't get a down payment until this morning. You caused me a very nervous weekend! Drove the three hours down today and paid for it.

Martin - It was good talking to you yesterday. Just to complete the story, I was planning on going to check the car out for Martin this morning when the dealership opened at 9am. I will be keeping my eyes open and hopefully I will find another Caterham I am interested in, perhaps this time I will focus on the SV....I like to keep my shoes on when I am out and about

I can only suggest one can't hesitate for long, we both did on this one it being apparently one of only two Caterhan/Miata's in existence.

I also missed out on a car I wanted a few weeks back, because of unanswered concerns of the MA title law and because I hadn't even sat in a Seven - a member generously corrected that

Just noticed, I lied abt sales price of my '97: I sold it for $21.5K, not $23.5K (wh/I think was asking price). I was just going thru paperwork on it for the new owner and saw this.
