Hettric
This is a 1997 Sprint DeDion kit. Filled my tank for the first time and gained a loud rattle. Sounds like the float is hitting the tank, gradually less and once down to 5/8 tank it's gone. Anyone else had this issue? Thanks
bsimon
Is there a possibility that someone removed the sender from the tank and re-installed it in the wrong orientation? You may be hearing the sender float banging against the inner wall of the tank.
Hettric
Yes that's what it sounds like to me. Is the sender something that is installed by the kit builder? Thanks
bsimon
I'm not positive , but I believe the tank, pump, and sender is already installed and wired in the chassis of all Caterham kits.

jlumba81
If its the sending unit is right on top center of fuel tank. Disconnect battery. Remove roll bar. Fuel filler + fill hose cover and fill hose. Remove rollbar. Remove boot floor and you'll have access to the sending unit. Maybe 1-1.5 hrs total. Don't even think you'll need to drain the gas. bsimon
The orientation of the VDO sender is such that you should be able to read the word "Germany" stem to stern while standing on the port side of the vehicle. If your car has Caerbont gauges ("Caterham" emblazoned on the clock dials), The orientation is such that the tabs for the faston connectors point to the front of the vehicle. You can sneak a peek by removing the screws from the boot floor and lifting it slightly. BTW...The boot floor can be removed without removing the FIA rollover bar (single or double cross braced roll bar). I'm not sure about the std rollover bar. jlumba81
I have a standard bar and had trouble figuring out how to get the boot floor clear of the diagonal bars that go to the rear of the car. After 20 mins of twisting and turning it was easier to take the roll bar off. Just 4 bolts and its off. I was surprised how light the rollbar is. FIA roll bar is a possible future upgrade.
