I am the new owner of a used Ultralite S2K (ex Steve, ex Jeff Duncan). I may be interested in a different set of wheels. Hub is 5 x 100 mm. Backspace is 5 1/2". Current forged aluminum wheels are SSR competitions, 7 1/2" frnt and 8 1/2" rear. I also own a set of 15" Diamond racing wheels. Anyone wishing to sell or trade their set of wider wheels, including 16" lightweight steel, please advise. bruceakopitz@gmail.com or 810-938-1010. Thanks!

i myself have ran multiple sets of wheels originally intended for a VW. my current set if s set of dotz touge which fit the car very well. i took the two wheels for the front to the machine shop to open up the center bore a tad more since the vw center bore is smaller then the wilwood hub in the front. if need be a machine shop can create centering rings for any wheel you choose to run, no matter the center bore.

What a great-looking Ultralite! Black makes small cars look sinister, and was my repaint choice - that is, until my wife laid eyes on the Suzuka-blue finish on Jeff's car. Now, I will have to settle for black trim. Are the wheels on your car 18's? How wide? Are the sizes symmetrical front to rear? Also, I ordered windscreens from Loren. I noticed that yours are mounted topside on the hood, instead of to the top of the dash just under the back edge of the hood. Did you fabricate your screens? Last question - are 7" Dietz-style lights appropriate for these cars, or too large? Loren turned me on to the 6" PIAA 525's, and I may yet use them, but 7" stainless Dietz's with halogen beams are 1/3 the cost. Advise if you can. And thanks for the warm welcome!

Bruce if you decide to sell the SSR wheels let me know.

10-4, Loren! You will be first on the list. I have questions for you: Since I will be plugging in a 4.111 diff, seems like it would be a good time to change the rear suspension hiems to your recommended teflon-coated variety. Do the teflons last as long? Do they stay in adjustment as long? Can you supply them? Or at least a parts list for them? Thanks!

Bruce K:

Congrats on the S2k. I am running those SSR wheels on mine, and they are great. Light and strong.

If you are going to change the heim joints, may I recommend you buy a large measuring caliper from Harbor Freight.

Just pull off the rod with two heims, slide them on the caliper, and tighten it. Then replace the heims, and adjust until it again fits the caliper. Makes the job easy.

Item # 96509 at Harbor freight, $10
