transalpian Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Greetings! I have a Birkin S3 and am looking for a fitted cover for use in the garage (I've a bit of a bat problem). Any recommendations?
xcarguy Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Unless you're set on having a fitted cover, you could use anything that is easy on the paint. I use a fitted bed sheet when needed. :seeya:
transalpian Posted September 18, 2013 Author Posted September 18, 2013 I guess I'm not "set" on a fitted cover, but I do like them on my other cars...
timax Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 I have one of these. http://www.coveryourcar.co.uk/store/product.php?productid=16489&cat=278&page=1 Very well made and fast shipping from the UK
JohnCh Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I have a Covercraft. They have a pattern for a Lotus 7 in their database that fits my car pretty well. It's a little tight in places, but a Westfield is closer in size to a Caterham SV, so it should be just about perfect for your Birkin. -John
IDreamOfChapman Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I have a covercraft as well. It fits my standard caterham perfectly.
slomove Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 In the garage I just throw an old bed sheet over the car when not driving for a long time. I know I am cheap but it works as well as anything else. On tour I used to have a custom fitted rain cover for the cockpit but that got damaged on the GBB tour. So I bought a small green tarp for the whole car, tied down with 4 bungees. Once again cheap and functional.
pi7ot Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I use a smallish tarp/bungees to cover the cockpit and engine cover (to prevent engine misfiring) when the car is outdoors overnight. I have a covercraft that fits the VW corrado for longer term. it is rather loose fitting but better than nothing. "Is that a couch in the corner of your garage?" "Yeah" m
rx7locost Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 I had a leftover dustcover for my MGA(now gone). My personal seamstress/wife used her skills and made some alterations. It is a pretty cheap (as in lousy) cover though it looks good.
HOTTTCAR Posted September 20, 2013 Posted September 20, 2013 For me a portion of the pleasure of owning a 7 is getting to look at it every time I go into the garage.......so it remains uncovered. Gale
carsport Posted September 22, 2013 Posted September 22, 2013 I have a California cover for mine, but when I go on trips I use a canvas picnic table cover from Lowes. I think it was 25 dollars. Heavy canvas for outdoor use. It fits the Stalker, Birkin and it has been on a couple of Locost for trial fits. Dale
