wcmgoldie Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 A similar post may have been discussed before but I was wondering what diameter exhaust people have for their headers, and exhaust. I was thinking 3", which I have already is killing the low end. I was thinking of doing 2.5". I think my headers are 1-7/8" if I remember correctly. Any suggestions?
xcarguy Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 Need some Ultralite guys to chime in on this one.
jimrankin Posted November 5, 2013 Posted November 5, 2013 My headers are 1 7/8" primary tubes. With the baked on finish they actually mic. at 1.90" instead of 1.875. Due to the very short length of our system and the 4 into 1 being right at the cat/muffler you don't really get much for scavenging so not suret how much increase you will get. Might add a bit more backpressure, which helps low end but not much of that in a S2000 motor no matter what you do.
WestTexasS2K Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 S2000 doesn't have much low end grunt. Just keep it about 4k and let it rip. You could change to 2.5 and I don't think you would be able to tell much difference. I'm not sure the results are worth the cost unless you just want to redo the system for blown out muffler or some other such repair.
wcmgoldie Posted November 7, 2013 Author Posted November 7, 2013 Thanks for the responces. I was replacing the exhaust because it leaks and looks awful. It's rusty and dented
