Incompatibility

In my opinion the problem with bringing the Caterham, Locost, Birkin and the Stalker together in one forum and calling them all 7s is problematic as they are clearly not the same vehicles and they certainly don't even offer the same experience.

Comparing a genuine Ferrari F355 with a Pontiac Fiero based F355 is not a comparison. In the end we all have choices, if someone chooses to buy a Stalker and then gets defensive and hostile because someone's saying the Caterhams better, because it is, then I would suggest they have bought the wrong car. Can you imagine people who own a genuine AC Cobra sharing the same forum with a Factory Five Cobra because someone’s said there the same or offer the same experience; it’s laughable nonsense. If you've ever driven a FF Cobra you will know what a piece of garbage they are, yea, sure they look the same from 20 yards but that's where it ends.

If you end up marring an ugly women, she may be a wonderful person, a great Mum, a good cook and great in bed, but she's still ugly, and just because you love her doesn't mean she's now a model. The bottom line is you can be in love with your Stalker or whatever it is, but it doesn't make it a good car, it's just good in your eyes, and if your happy with it, WONDERFUL.

I'm sure that many people are having a hoot driving their Stalkers, Birkins and Locosts and good on them, we all enjoy different experiences and have different budgets:

JUST DON’T CALL IT A 7 BECAUSE IT ISNT.

Well, in fairness, this forum was founded explicitly on the notion that it was a forum for discussion of Lotus Seven Inspired Sportscars (LSIS), whatever they may be. So in the context of that, any reference to "7" here can be viewed as shorthand for LSIS. We all have opinions about the weighting of price, performance, heritage, aesthetics, quality, etc. in the value equation. But that needn't prevent mutual enjoyment of the cars along with reasoned and civil discussion about them and their merits.

No point in discussing this. If being on the same forum as other LSIS is not your cup of tea (this isn't directed at just Terry), don't waste your time being aggravated here. There are mailing lists / forums that are more suited to that purpose.

Terry asked to leave the forum.

Locking this one up.
