Red Duck
Recently taken delivery of a new CSR260. I'm going to be using it on track days and so need a front & rear tow point. In some places it's course regulations. But its good practice since the marshal cannot be relied upon to look beyond a big red arrow with 'tow' written on it. If the suspension isn't already bent by the time the marshal attaches the tow, it will be afterwards Can anyone give me advice on where and how? Thanks
yellowss7
I have a small tie down strap that I use with a threaded link that I attach to the tow point at the front and back and use a couple cable ties to keep it in place. Or you can just secure it using the threaded link to the seat frame and pull it out if needed. Tom
Croc
There are 2 towing eyes on a current Caterham - CSR, SV or S5. They are front right and rear left. They are fairly simple looking chassis black powder coated hooks. The front one is so hidden as to be invisible unless you scrabble around on the ground under the nose cone. Even if the front was painted yellow for the UK or red in the US it would not be easily seen The Caterham towing strap attaches to this hook and then drags around under the car or more ideally is zip tied to something convenient to keep it up and more importantly, visible. The Caterham product is here: http://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product.php?id_product=5033 There are a ton of alternative straps that will work instead of the Caterham one and they are cheaper. Demon Tweeks has a page of straps: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/towing-eyes-straps I bet there are some in the US local somewhere but not sure where. The conventional metal towing eye really does not attach anywhere safely on a Caterham hence the reliance on the strap. Hope this helps!
Red Duck
Thanks Croc. There are two rings, left and right, under the nose cone of my CSR. Both look fragile but I guess it's not a lot of weight to be pulling out of the kitty litter. I'm trying to find a solution to getting the car to various track days this year having finally got the car on the road.
