Donnie Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Have 8 Dzus fasteners holding down my Series 2 Seven bonnet. Is this original? Can't find any verification.
11Budlite Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 (edited) Donnie - The Dzus fasteners are not original. I think your car would have come with two toggle-type clamps in the rear and two spring-type clamps holding down the front (or maybe four toggle-type clamps?). There should be some photos of some original cars with the correct setup here: http://www.simplesevens.org/ Edited August 20, 2014 by 11Budlite
TheDingo8MyBaby Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 They look similar to these, but are cast instead of stamped. The cast version are very difficult to come by and have not been reproduced by anyone, to my knowledge. http://www.classiccarexchange.co.uk/toggle-catches-p-418.html
Donnie Posted August 21, 2014 Author Posted August 21, 2014 One wonders why Dzus would have been retrofitted. Now if I install alternative fasteners I'm left with the holes. Thanks for the input.
DeanG Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I've had some holes patched in mine. From the outside you can't even tell there was a hole. Car is polished aluminum. Not cheap but it can be done.
