Lotus out of US market ?

Bad news from a Car and Driver article that says Lotus will quit selling road cars here when the last Evora is sold. U. S. dealers will be selling only versions of the Elise and Exige and Lotus plans to “restructure its worldwide workforce” which would reduce it's workforce by 27% http://blog.caranddriver.com/going-going-lotus-to-drop-evora-from-u-s-market/ I've seen them on the ropes many times and hope this isn't the end.

Same pattern since the early 60s, I have owned various cars from lotus and it has always been the same pattern, good selling cars but no 'next' car that will sell in good numbers.

""New Lotus CEO Jean-Marc Gales says he's "confident" he can make the money-losing brand profitable again by cutting jobs, adding dealers and boosting the sports car maker's lineup."

I hope that "boosting the....lineup" would include a sports car that us regular folks can afford. I would recommend something light, with good performance, but more suitable to be a DD than the Elise was. I'm thinking, cup holder or two, etc.

I agree Paul! I thought a Miata size car by Lotus could sell as well as the Elise. Lotus pretty much invented the type and Mazda perfected it.
