We bought 2 kits on October 1st. We were the first one in the nearby Lego store ! My 5 yr old, obsessed with Legos, built it in one afternoon and now we are proud owners of a second (miniature) Caterham! great kit i have to say. Good details and well done

Hey guys Here's another video of our NJMP event - small montage. I've added cheesy music because i could not hear the exhaust, only wind buffeting. (actually, unsure how people get the sound of the engine on those videos, i'd love to solve this mystery one day) I think you can copy paste this link in your browser. You should also be able to look for the video on youtube under Red Cat, Caterham NJMP 2016 Meet Talk soon

Mike, Tom, Friends just a few words to echo everyone's sentiment and comments. This weekend was a total blast and such a pleasure seeing everyone again. We've survived massive storms, tornado like weather and hail on Friday (Croc and I were thinking who we would text last), but all worth it for a fabulous weekend. This gathering is quickly becoming an annual ritual, a must do and pilgrimage for any 7 enthusiast. No better place and better group of people to be with. Special thanks to Mike and Tom for an incredible organization and for truly taking care of all of us. Thanks to all for driving tips, overall help and incredible camaraderie. My only recommendation, we should have an award for "surviving one's trailer" next year. My car and I made it ok despite a tire blow out on the NJT on the way to NJMP and tie belt snapping on my way back.. no clue why. Thanks everyone. Have a good summer

Priceless.. although i'm now worried about my car spending the night with yours in this large garage.... i'll take you up on the offer. I'm currently registered for Saturday only but i will most probably stay for Sunday as well. I hope that's ok and can settle with the track when i'm there. (let me know if not) Thanks and talk soon all

All I have a "precut" transparent protective film kit for caterham S3 available for sale (a must if you want to keep your car chip free). I bought the kit 12 months ago from an online shop in England and still in shipping tube. It comes with front nose, side and rear wings precut pieces. Never used it because i decided to wrap the entire car with a film, done at a local shop on the East Coast. I also have a brand new 925 Odyssey AGM battery. Sill in the box. Bought it 2 months ago but never ended up using the battery (found another option). Any reasonable offers will be considered. Also, will be at NJMP, July 4th weekend and can bring the precut pieces and the battery if someone on the east coast is interested. Could help save shipping. Let me know cheers everyone thanks

Black Hole, suggest that you don't even try to figure out CT regulations having gone through the process. It's hellish and very subjective. There is a better way. Send me a PM

Alright - got my car professionally aligned (front wheels).. I had it done manually with strings and 2x4's last yr.. 1/ front camber exactly -2.8 degs on both sides 2 / toe - neutral exactly.. I think i'm going to miss toe out feeling a bit but lets' see. at least im starting from a neural base and can play easily with toe in toe out to my liking. 3/ the rear train is not too off, with minimum thrust 0.03 degs.. so quite happy about that 4/ have attempted to tune the weight distribution by measuring height but let's see. I think i'm still going to lock those wheels on heavy breaking the only thing is that i will be running with my zzr tires that i bought last year.. hope they are still good and sticky Simon - have you installed your blower yet? Are we all going to be in trouble? Also, got myself a garmin camera. It automatically displays speed and G forces on the D video it takes. look forward to trying this cool toy. talk soon

Friends! all set, just registered. Go-Kart, BBQ and all.. I can't wait. I'm getting concerned.. my twin sister is talking about supercharging her/his car. hmmm. will be tougher to keep up. He is pushing me to upgrade my powertrain as well, but let's see. Will take a little while before i pull the trigger. As an aside, I just bought a nice 1978 Austin Mini for my wife (mother's day surprise ish) from a very nice gentleman who was selling it to make room for the car of his dreams.. a Caterham (talk about a coincidence)! Mid 1990's crossflow engine freshly landed from the UK. I've been trying to convince him to join us at NJMP this summer but I need all of your help to encourage him to attend! Let's call him Mr. J for the sake of this blog. Chances are he will soon read this blog, so please feel free to give him a nudge or two on this thread to attend!! Talk soon all Seb

Love it! the best diagram ever. thanks much! now i'm all set .. thanks everyone see you on the track soon.

Thanks for awesome and detailed info. I need to install a12 volt outlet to power all of this. I assume any model would do correct? Is there special Caterham magic in installing one? Never know with this car. On a separate note, do you know if these systems could be paired with a Bluetooth or wifi camera? There is a new camera out there called 360 fly (360fly.com) that allows you to film 360 degrees at all time. You can then edit and replay the movie on your phone or computer selecting the angle you want. I tried it last year at limerock. Very cool (seeing me approach, pass, and then pan the view angle following the car I just passed. ). Would be cool to link it to the gps lap timer systems

Guys, Mike, thanks a super bunch for the info. This is most probably the most comprehensive review of all the track GPS lap timer systems out there. This is super helpful. Based on this infor, i think i'm leaning towards the Solo DL system despite poor customer support (heard real bad) . ' Mike - where did you buy your system (especially that you have to specific that it is for the Noble). Also, where do you install the display in your car? thanks again. Sebastien

Thanks both what do you think of Racelogic 10 Ghz GPS unit? looks like a lot more expensive, worth the money?
-
Friends, I'm looking to install a GPS lap timer system on my Caterham to get ready for a few track events this summer (and to keep up with my twin sister Simon :cooldude:). Does anyone have any recommendations on best or most relevant systems for the money? Very specifically, i'm looking for a rather basic but yet expandable and user friendly / install friendly system that 1) measures and gives in lap timing, best lap, etc 2) downloads to a computer all basic data such as lap time, g force, and basic engine readings 3) could connect to a camera / mic (wire ok but wifi or bluetooth is best) at a later stage Recommendations, pros and cons, are welcome. Thank you all in advance for the help and advice Sebastien

guys 2016 usa7 debauchery at njmp... I'm in. May have very limited changes this yr and will focus mostly on tuning the front suspension to keep up with my twin R400 brother Simon. Postponing the race to more horsepower to 2017 ... still eyeing 290 hp at the crank .. but thats an aspiration. Lets first get through 2016 season. Talk soon

Mike, Tom, friends What a terrific event! A huge thank you for such a phenomenal organization and for such a warm welcome as usual. It was a real pleasure seeing everyone again this year, even if it was for a short Sunday in my case. .. worth every minute of it. I truly enjoyed pushing the driving limits along with Jeff, Mike^2, Simon (my red R400 brother from another mother), and Tom and experimenting with very late breaking.. just fun times. I just wished I could have spent more time with all of you over the long weekend but it will have to be for next yr. Hopefully with my wife Kelli who would like to give it a try.. Thanks again for the great event. talk to all very soon... thanks!!!!

Greetings everyone well.. sad news on my side, unfortunately my wife's Grandmother just passed away and the funeral is on Friday. I will probably miss the go-kart event and Friday activities (Tom, there you go, you won't have to fight too much to get in front anymore..). I'll see what I can do to join the gang on Saturday and or Sunday (day trip from CT) but all depends on the moral at home and how my wife's mom and the rest of the family are holding up. Terrible timing I know ... and sorry I will most probably miss the bulk of the fun but have to take care of the family. Let's see how things play out. I will keep you updated. talk soon PS: I have new 13" Apollo rim and ZZR tires and just switched to aersocreen.. the car looks great!
-
Three questions: - JeffS.. will you be joining us?? we will miss you if not around! - Mike .. also potentially interested in locked up garage option only if readily available. Is this still an option? - does anyone has an AIM Smartycam GP and Solo DL data logging system for sale? would love to have at least a basic system installed thanks!

CarMan, I ll try to swing by on the 19th but unsure Tom / KitCat, to answer your question on Toe, I had opted for very slight toe in for high speed track. That said, the car lost its fun steering factor (took It for a drive on local roads last weekend) so thinking on opening up the toe a bit to increase steering responsiveness (neutral or +0.2 deg max). The increase negative camber has changed the front feel of the car and I have no clue how the new setup will handle on the track. .. I have an opportunity to drive on the Monticello track this weekend so I'll report back. Wish me luck!
-
Love it. Thanks for sharing the pics. I getting to know George Alderman and his son Paul pretty well as they helped me finish and figure out a few quirks with my car when I built mine. I'm in touch with them now to see if they could help me build another engine (the eternal HP quest). Very good guys. Indeed, why don't you come and join us at NJMP the weekend of July 4th?
-
Tom, you are right on both fronts... but all good fun and for fun times. Keeps me on my toes and a good way to learn. Kelli took the car for a spin last weekend, it was wild! She was a bit afraid of stalling the car so she was a bit heavy on the gas and quick on the clutch at times.. funny (sexy I admit) seeing her fish tailing at intersections. :auto:. CarMan, did not realize you drove on some of the same tracks I occasionally attend. Would be great to connect and / or synch up. I live CT.
-
thanks! you realize that I'm going through all this trouble (new tires, adjustments, wind deflector etc.. ) to keep up with you on the track right?
-
Kitcat, agree.. I think I'll adjust to have neutral toe for that track. Quick (novice) question again.. are the steering tie rods only threaded on the tie-rod-end side? In other words, can I simply loosen the tie rod to tie-rod-end securing nut and turn clock wise / counter clockwise the tie rod to change the toe (eg trying to avoid to disassemble the tie-rod-end from the upright)? I assume the that tie-rods connect to the steering rack with ball joints. Is this correct? Any harm or risk in this approach? thanks a bunch
