  1. Just a reminder that the Lotus Enthusiast's Organization has organized a Spirited Drive for this Sunday, October 28th. We will run rain or shine! Thanks to the warm weather, the fall colors were not quite at their peak during our final check-out last weekend, so it should be absolutely fantastic this weekend! Starting from the Cracker Barrel Restaurant in Clinton, NJ ( just south of Exit 15 of Interstate 78), the Drive commences at 11:00 AM. (Join us in the restaurant about 9:30 for breakfast if you wish.) From there we will meander towards > Frenchtown, NJ, and have a break and refreshments at Wm. Thomas Roadsters about 12:30 PM. Bill Thomas will demo several Sector111 items that he installs on customers' Elises. :bigears: Then we hit the road once more, ending up at the Good Times Restaurant in historic Oxford, NJ. (Not far from my favorite NJ locality, BUTTZVILLE. Yes, that IS the center of Nowhere...) We will stop there about 4:00 PM for drinks or sandwiches too, if anyone is hungry. But the main focus will be on the DRIVING. The AM leg is 40 miles and the PM section is 45 miles. Because there might be a gaggle of slowpoke leaf-watchers on the roads, we have selected the best secondary and tertiary two-lane roads in Hunterdon and Warren counties. They are wonderful and twisty, and are suited for all Lotus cars from older Elans and Europas to the newest Elises and Exiges. As always, our LEO events are informal. If you can't spend the whole day with us, it's OK to partake of the morning or afternoon drives independently, as your schedule permits. :blueangel: There won't be a whole lot of good Lotus driving left in the year, so come one, come all! Please send me an email or PM if you are coming...or call day-of-event 201-852-9742.
  2. Thought you folks would appreciate this video.:hurray: Series 1 Super 7 at speed at VIR on May 6, 2007. http://www.at-speed.com/movies/sv_lotus7_vscca_vir_06.wmv I cross-posted this from the Lotus-Cars list, apologies if you have seen it all ready.
  3. Jeff of MM/H Lotus called today (Friday) and said they have more than 35 cars registered. It's gonna be GREAT. Unfortunately Lotus USA didn't come through with the Concept Car so we are going to have to Photoshop something ourselves, just to bust Lotus Car's you-know-whats. :cuss: Anyway: come one, come all, there will be refreshments at the beginning, plus if you get there REAL early the dealership will wash your car for you.
  4. Kinda far to back-up I guess. :grouphug: :jester: I was just reading about Al N's adventures on April 21st. We live right near Performance Trailer, and to cap it off, our joint meet on the 21st with the DeLorean guys included a Drive that went within a half-mile of there! (Later in the day, though) Hoping to see a few Lotus owners on the 5th in L.I.
  5. Last call for the LEO Long Island Drive! It takes places this Saturday, May 5th (Cinco De Mayo) starting at Manhattan Motorcars/Hamptons Lotus, Westhampton Beach, NY. We assemble at 9:30 AM, and we leave at 10 AM. We have a 90 minute Drive planned, stopping for a tour of the Wolffer Estate Winery, then a luncheon at the Annona Restaurant. Details at http://www.lotusenthusiasts.org/Events/Default.asp If you have already registered with Jeff Illions, bring your FRS two way radios. The weather's gonna be GREAT. And as a special treat, Jeff promises a viewing of a Lotus concept car that may go into production next year! See you there! 7. The Lotus Enthusiast's Organization (NYC Area) is supporting a Winery Tour and Dinner on Saturday, May 5th. This event is hosted by Manhattan Motors/Hamptons Lotus. We begin at the Dealership, 112 Riverhead Road, in Westhampton Beach NY 11978. Time to assemble is 9:30 AM with the Caravan leaving at 10:00AM. MM/H has planned a 90 minute Drive for us, with it's destination the Wolffer Estate Winery. There we will tour the winery and sample it's wares. After that, we drive back to Westhampton Beach, where we will partake of am early dinner at the Annona Restaurant, directly over the MM/H showroom. If you would like to attend, please call Jeff Illions at 631-288-9300 ASAP. There is a $50 per person fee, which includes the winery tour and dinner (including drinks). Check out what you can expect at the Wolffer Estate www.wolffer.com and the Annona Restaurant www.annona.com There are not many Lotus gatherings on Long Island, so make sure you can attend! It will be a great opportunity to meet other Long Island Lotus owners!
  8. Large trucks bother you huh? http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/mad5.gif Me too. Rt 81 is REALLY congested. If you are looking for an interesting two-lane alternative to I-81 in VA, try Route 42 starting in Woodstock, VA. It parallels 81. We took this trip on the way to the last LOG in Atlanta in '98. There are a few gaps in the route so make sure you map them out beforehand. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/wink5.gif Car and Driver .com used to have an article about the 10 Best Roads of the Southeast (Rt 42 and the Dragon are two of them) on the website archives, but I couldn't find it just now.
  9. Seems it's time for everyone to make plans, and the Lotus Enthusiast's Organization is no different. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/hurray.gif Here is our Events Schedule for the first half of 2007. You don't have to drive a Lotus to attend. In fact, we can usually find any "deprived" motorist a ride in a Lotus! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/coolgleamA.gif >http://www.lotusenthusiasts.org/Events/Default.asp February 25th, Go Kart Challenge, East Hanover, NJ March 17th, Driving Fever Party, Chester, NY April 21st, Spring Social (with the DMAC), Netcong, NJ May 5th, Long Island Lotus Drive, Winery Tour, & Dinner, Westhampton Beach, Long Island June 16 - 19, Club111 Spring Regional Meet, CT/Lime Rock July 15, LEO Summer Picnic and Drive, Long Valley, NJ August 24-27, Lotus Owners Gathering, Aspen, CO >http://www.log27.com/ Hope to see many of you there! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/party.gif
  10. H-N-Y to everyone here! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/yesnod.gifhttp://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/hurray.gif (We brought 2007 in at the home of a fellow Esprit owner, along with a few Austin-Healey folks and quarter-midget racers!) Here's to diversity in 2007! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/wink5.gif
  11. The route is a blast...it travels through seven tunnels of the Lackawana Cut-Off. We need someone to post a WAV file...engine sounds are nicely amplified!!! http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/party.gif If you never heard of the LCO, look here: >http://www.rr-fallenflags.org/el/bldg/dlw-cutoff.html
