She back up here in B-more? If you're not picking it up until next week, I might have time for a ride @ lunch or something, lol. -
I've been so busy lately, this has taken a back burner...but please (if you're willing), post up your program!

Are you using macros to change it? I wish I had been a member of Delaware's SAE team (kicks self in arse). I remember one guy messing with excel and macros and had an excellent setup to calc. out all that stuff. Oh well...things happen for many reasons, guess I shouldn't complain. Definately post up your finished excel product. Additionally, there is one on the locost board, but not visual in nature.

Give me some suspension design pointers
sb427f-car replied to slngsht's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I know front roll center should be about 3/4s of the rear roll center? So your statement/question about it being below the rear's is correct. Ideally, from what I have read/understood from Staniforth's book (competition car suspension: a practical guide, 4th ed., good reference and a must read before building), is that as low to the ground for roll center as possible? -
You know you are a racer ( or a Se7en owner) if:

Simply wow...he should have taken that car to Barret Jackson...Simply unbelievable. -
I figured as much...that is a GREAT tuning package. GM rules when it comes to tuning OBDII ECMs.

What are you tuning with?

So, tell us a little about yourselves

Yeah, I know there are some "Hankins" in Cali and Colorado. It's really weird, since it's not "that" common of a name, but it's not unique either. -

It was indeed green and has a MD SF plate. As far as Caterhams...beautiful...but definately out of the price range of a 20 something trying to save for a house, http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gifsb427f-car2007-01-31 06:45:13 -
Wow...too bad we don't have that track over here...

Well now...that's really interesting. Is that in Tazwell county? Cause I've got the same last name and that's where my dad's side of the family came from. Small world. Anyways, I'm a 24 (going quickly on 25) y/o accountant for Northern Maryland. I work for a consumer lending company that's owned by one of the big MD banks and is located in Baltimore. 2 Years removed from my U of Delaware experience where I originally started out Mech E and said, I don't need this. Fast forward, I'm a car guy, have been since before college, and have been waiting for the day to buy/build/race something I can call my own. I do drive to and from work an 05 WRX sedan, and I have auto-xed it some. I plan on getting out to more events in the Maryland area this year, at least to spectate, and maybe drive in D stock. As far as my contributions/idiotic posts here and on locostusa.com, I'm trying to learn how, what, why, I want to build one of these cars. The first auto-x I attended I saw one, and watched it cut up the course pretty well. The last auto-x I was at, I talked with the owner of a ztech powered Caterham and took gas at how much it would hit my wallet (or wouldn't because it was out of my price range). So here I am, trying to read and learn so I can attempt to build from scatch. Happy motoring. -
Yeah, that makes the most sense. So you are going IRS?

Is this why you started a thread on the STi center diff on the locust board? http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif Or are you seriously thinking about going AWD?

IF, I had one...I'd be there...but...definately in the future!

Took Frankn7 out for a ride today

Anyone using inboard rear brakes?
sb427f-car replied to slngsht's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I can tell ya right now, you do NOT want to mess withe R160 diff, with a lot of power. Anyone that is serious about upgrading the WRX (especially if they go to the stronger 6 spd) usually opts for the STi's R180. Especially with your power, it's proably a great rear for the lower tq, lighter cars though. Someone beat me to it. sb427f-car2007-01-18 07:30:46 -
Hey sb427f-car, if you want a ride...

I'll be out to the first event @ Ripken this year. If you're planning on that AND/OR any other one there...if we haven't hooked up before then. -

Grrrrrr, can't! Working today, and then out this evening...dang it. I will hook up with you though in the near future. In the mean time, I've finished Tanner's book, and started reading Staniford's (or Staniforth's) book. Competition Car suspension: pracitcal guide. Dang it...dang it dang it!!! LOL.
