  1. Thanks. Emailed the previous owner (owned it since 1976). He may have some info. Hoping to find an original type engine to rebuild. Hope its a Kent. Have more experience with it than sidevalve.
  2. Thanks, Steve. I have Rees' book. I was hoping I could get a definitive chassis number/engine relationship. My car is RHD and could have been a factory build. One would assume that there are records somewhere.
  3. Recently purchased a 1962 Series 2 Chassis number SB1211. Current engine is a 1600 xflow which is not original. Am trying to find out what engine came originally in the car. The registration plate says the original engine was "S267210F". I'm guessing that it is either a Ford sidevalve or a BMC "A" engine but can't find any identifying info on the web. Anybody got any ideas?
  4. Nice car. Should go quickly.
  5. And thanks to you, Al and everyone else who worked so hard to get this thing off the ground. Amazing what's been accomplished in a little over 3 years. Proud to be a part of it. Saw my Seven disappear over the horizon 3 hours ago. Kind of sad. I'll definately miss cruising the Dragon on warm Summer days but I'm looking forward to new adventures.
  6. Thanks to all who responded to the thread. I was amazed at the interest. The car has been sold to a gentleman in Dallas, Texas. It hasn't left my garage yet and I'm already feeling seller's remorse.
  7. Actually the engine develops about 140HP. I have dyno graph showing 113 at the rear wheels. Don
  8. Thanks, no. Looking for either an MX5 or Elise.
  9. Ear plugs are optional but recommended
  10. View of the port side
  11. As requested, here's a few more pics.
  12. 1992 Caterham 7. Third owner. 3K miles on Chip Bond rebuilt 1700cc Kent - SAMCOR AX engine. Kent 244 cam, dual 40 DCOE's, roller rockers, Pertronix ignition, heater, Sierra 5 speed, DeDion LSD rear, FIA rollbar, 5 (genuine) Minilites w/Yokahamas on car, Michelin spare. Complete weather gear including tonneau and half side curtains. Original build manual and receipts. Dyno graphs available showing 113 BHP at the rear wheels. Need a car for casual touring with spouse. Possible trade for well-appointed MX-5. Car is located near Knoxville, TN. Price is $24K. Would prefer to sell within the club rather than taking the Ebay route. Call or email for more info. Don
  13. Ran across this in Ebay. Good deal if you need any of this stuff http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160372735941&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1123 Don
  14. BTW My Seven was a 62nd birthday present to myself. Don
  15. Steve Don't have any detail shots. I'll put a few together tomorrow and forward. In the meantime, here's one I do have. Don
  16. Steve I have a '92 Caterham which I was planning to offer for sale next Spring but would consider selling now if a buyer presented him(her)self. It is a BRG Classic with De Dion rear and LSD. Engine is 1700 Super Sprint with DCOE's. and Kent 244 cam. It has approx. 4000 miles on a complete mechanical rebuild by Chip Bond of GT Classics in Va., a Caterham dealer. All receipts are available. I can furnish more complete specifications if you are interested. Car is in Eastern Tennessee and I am asking $24,500. Don
  17. I received a new Odyssey PC680 on 2/12/09 as a replacement for one that had failed. I have decided to go back to a lawn/tractor battery and will sell the Odyssey and an Omax 6A1B (made specifically for this battery) for $150 plus UPS (will not separate). The battery has never been installed. Please note that, inasmuch as this is a replacement battery, Odyssey will only warranty it for two years from the original battery purchase (6/07). The OMAX 6A1B charges the battery until full charge and automatically reduces to a trickle charge. Can be left connected indefinately. Charger comes with quick-connect. Don
  18. I have not received a packet as yet. Don

You'll have to admit, he's got plenty of ammunition:yesnod:
  20. Caught this on Youtube today. Forgive me if its a repeat.
  21. Slngsht Have not received the calendar as yet. Checked my email address and its ok.:willy: Don
  22. Actually, I also had a 3 vertabre cervical fusion last June. Recovered completely in about 3 weeks. The lumbar fusion is much more invasive and the recovery much longer. It's been 4 weeks and, although I am off of narcotic pain killers, I still have great difficulty in putting on socks. Of course driving a Caterham does not require socks. Doc says don't plan on any golf or tennis till summer. He said it was OK to drive. Not sure he realized I have a Seven or if he even knows what a Seven is. I'll have to admit, I can get in and out of my Tacoma much more gracefully than I can the Seven.
  23. :hurray: Happy to report that 24 days after back surgery (decompression and fusion of L4, L5, S1 utilizing 2 rods, brackets and 6 screws) I'm back in the Caterham. Just a quick trip to get gas and add stabilizer but, in spite of the 40 degree temperature, it felt great. Probably would have been warmer with the hood in place but ingess and egress would have been impossible. Removable steering wheel helped also. Don
  24. Just went through the same operation 3 weeks ago. Decompression and fusing of three vertabre. Three days of serious hurt but daily improvement since. Hope to get in the Caterham within the next week or so (sans top) to fill it up with gas and add stabilizer. "Hope' being the operative word. At this time, I'm still taking prescription pain killers. Everbody heals a little different so it's tough to compare. Got to believe that in a few months I'll be (relatively) pain free for the first time in about 6 years. Good luck to you. We should compare recoveries.
  25. :hurray: What a hoot. Want to share with friends but most wouldn't get it. Thanks for sharing.
