  1. FTD the 1st time out in the car is pretty impressive. Congrats Gary. :hurray: Running on slicks sure does make it fun. The grip level is very addictive. Looking forward to a competitive summer series at the airport.
  2. My Ultralite is 1417 w/o driver and almost full of fuel (13gal). Feeling a little portly.
  3. I added one last year to get through the VA inspection. I velcro'd it to the back of the driver's seat and ended up using a $6-7 logic circuit to keep the brake light from flashing with the turn signal. All in all, a fairly easy job.
  4. I'm interested. Car should be all together by April.:7fume:
  5. I can make Saturday Jeff Duncan 2004 WCM Ultralite S2K
  6. Bob, Just sent you an e-mail. Count me in.
  7. Gary, Welcome. I'm also in Northern, VA (Reston). I picked up an already built/owned WCM Ultralite last year. I figured it would probably take me several years to try and build one. So far it's been a lot of fun. I'm looking forward to the '08 auto-x season as I've been thinking of what new parts to through at the car -- tires/wheels, springs, etc. I'm always up for a local drive/get together somewhere once it gets a little warmer. Looking forward to seeing your Stalker.
  8. Dan, I also have a Performance trailer like Bruce and Al except the fenders/wheels where narrowed so that it fits inside my garage. It came out to just under 92" and I was able to keep the 6' deck width. Very happy with the result.
  9. Loren, I'm pretty sure the ratio is 4.11. I'm guessing I'll need a machine shop to change the bearing? Al, No worries. It all worked out well in the end. Looking forward to getting together again sometime. --Jeff
  10. Bruce, Yes, I'm very happy with the result. I guess you could say it's now a custom, custom trailer Good to hear about your towing experience, I'm eager to try it out.
  11. I took the car to a track day at Summit Point and after two sessions, the rear end started making what I'd call gear whine. It was bad enough that I figured I was doing some sort of damage. After the track, I've done a few diagnostic runs it consistently whines loudly under acceleration or when you lift off throttle. If you ease off the throttle, the noise almost goes away. I have a spare diff and figure it shouldn't be too hard to swap it out. I guess it could also be an issue with the transmission. Just haven't had any time to spend working on it.
  12. Al and Bruce, Today ends my trailer saga and I'm happy to report that I just returned home with my "skinny" trailer -- 89 1/2" from outside the fenders -- and it fits in the garage. I've attached a couple of pics showing why it needed to be less than 92". Glenn ended up cutting the fenders and installing a narrower axle. The deck stayed exactly the same. Now if I can find time to swap out the noisy rear end in the Ultralite, I can start looking for events further away. http://usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1776875649_DSC05435.JPG The narrow fender. http://usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/556215696_skinny fender.JPG The narrow garage door. http://usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/5623019_DSC05436.JPG :hurray: --Jeff
  13. Bruce, I spoke with Glenn yesterday and they are looking at off-set wheels and narrowing the fenders. The wheels they received were the wrong bolt pattern so it's taken a little longer. Everyone's still optimistic that the 92" width is achievable.
  14. Bruce and Al, I was pleasantly surprised to hear that it's in and I'm planning to pick it up this Saturday. I'm driving up from VA so I'm guessing I'll get there between 10 and 11am. Brake controller already installed in the tow vehicle.
  15. I'm interested so long as I can get a weekend pass from the boss
  16. The weather was fantastic  Including the drive to and from the drive, I figure it was a little over 200 miles of driving for me. That's the most I've driven the Ultralite so far and now I know I need to relocate that bolt that holds the drivers seat to the floor. It was great to meet everyone today. Looking forward to future events. 17. Sounds fun. I'll be getting back from vacation Sat night but assuming we get back on time, I'd like to join in. --Jeff Duncan
