Hi there!
I just (last Friday) bought a 1987 Caterham 1700 Super Sprint from a fellow Porsche Club of America member. He primarily used it for autocrossing, but as he shifted to club racing the Caterham spent more and more time just sitting. I have had my eye on it for a couple of years and I finally, after appropriate spousal approval, was able to get him to sell it to me.
It drives well, but does need to have some things fixed and be caught up on maintenance, which to me is great since I enjoy wrenching. So on Tuesday I will pick it up (actually drop off one of our Porsche Boxsters in his barn and drive off with the Caterham, necessitated by not having enough garage space to put 6 cars under roof) and plan to put it up on jack stands and get to work right away so it is ready by the time driving season comes around.
Most of the time it will be used for autocross, but I do also plan to take it to events, both Lotus 7 and other, plus a little bit of vintage track.
Being 71, I will need to pack in as much enjoyment as I can before my advancing age catches up with me.
So see you on the forums and in person!
Thanks
