  1. Sold, thanks to all for your interest.
  2. The registration in Mass is brutal for a Kit or Replicar. I thought it would be exempt from emissions since it is more than 15 years old but that does not apply to replicars onle production automobiles. I had to find a 1972 or earlier car of similar displacement that had been registered in Mass in the past 5 years and scrap it to get an emissions exemption. It is registered as 2008 as that is when the build was completed (I need to correct original post). Yes everything is included that is listed on the post. I upgraded the exhaust as noted, replaced the fuel tank, installed new external fuel pump, mounted Accusump within engine compartment, address and corrected some wiring issues and replace the battery.
  3. Thanks

  5. I went through it with my Birkin last year and it is painful to say the least, prior to that I went through it with a Cobra kit car. There are a couple of steps the first one you will need to go through if it is new kit vehicle is to get a MA issued VIN which requires the state police to inspect the vehicle to insure none of the parts are stolen. Have receipts and documents for all the drive train showing they were purchased. If the vehicle has been previously registered in another state and has a state issued VIN you can skip this. Once you have a state issued VIN you go through the normal vehicle registration process get insurance and plates etc. Now the fun part the state vehicle inspection part. I thought from reading the regulations that it would not be and issue as the engine in the Birkin was a 1998 Zetec and the kit car was purchased by the assembler in 2006 making the vehicle more than 15 years old so my conclusion it would be emissions exempt. I purchased the vehicle which was registered in two different states with that assumption thinking I would avoid the kit car registration process. Since it was a kit car there is whole set of other rules in MA. After getting and inspection rejection I had to deal with the MAC center who guided me through the process, they were helpful but it was nonetheless painful. I had to go out and find a 1972 vehicle of similar displacement engine and been registered in MA within the past 5 years and get it scrapped and present a documentation from the salvage yard it had been scrapped. The purpose is that you are creating an emissions credit for your new car thereby making it emissions exempt. Before you buy your donor vehicle make sure you present the current registration and VIN number to the MAC center to ensure it will meet the criteria. A vehicle that meets that criteria at a reasonable price is hard to find. I happen to find a clapped out 71 MGB for $2500 that met criteria. It took me over 6 weeks to find the donor fortunately for me this was during vehicle inspection software fiasco so I was able to drive as there was no way to get the vehicle inspected. In MA make sure you have working wipers and full windshield. Nothing like the State of Massachusetts to take the fun out of everything. Good luck you will need it!
  6. That and the front license plate!
  7. I have Birkin with 1998 Zetec with OEM ECU and only one upstream O2 sensor and it runs very well once warm. Likely the cause of the poor cold idle it is missing idle air control valve as I believe was removed to accommodate aftermarket intake. The second O2 sensor is there for system monitoring not engine control. Keep in mind the OEM fuel system /ECU are designed to run with a catalyst so they are designed to run a little rich for catalyst to function as there can't be any excess O2 in the exhaust stream. If you don't have a catalyst it will smell rich.
  8. Looks great. Is the car registered in Massachusetts? If so I didn't think that would pass inspection.
  9. I would be very interested in attending as I am only 40 minutes away.
  10. I am in Needham which is eastern MA. I did travel to test drive it and found power to be excellent yet very drivable. BTW the car has 6800 miles not 60k. Looking forward to the spring when I can drive it. Glad to Seven owner.
  11. I am happy to say I am the new owner of this Birkin as it is on a truck headed to Massachusetts. The car was exactly as the owner Jim described it and isvery well sorted. Jim was very accommodating and pleasure to deal with.
  12. BlueBDA - I purchased a Birkin and intending on registering it Massachusetts. This car falls into a real gray area that has several potential paths to registration as it is already titled and registered in another site. Given the MA regulations leave a lot to be desired in clarity and the inability to get a definitive answer from the MAC center I am wondering if your crush car is still available?
