  1. Tom, you're welcome to take it for a spin when it's done, even if you don't win the weight estimate
  2. Couple of questions: 1- What kind of rivets? Aluminum? Steel? 2- Should I use RTV or some type of sealant between the aluminum flooring and the tubes?
  3. Martin, congrats! Not having a seven on the road is getting old. I'm going to go with some type of wind deflector and a helmet, I think.
  4. Awesome
  5. I had RA1s and was VERY happy with them. Only drove in rain with them a couple of times with no problems, but it was not HEAVY rain. I have no doubt it'll do fine in rain, because the tread pattern is very conservative, unlike the R888
  6. The what?
  7. Sounds like his tail might be sore from the last beating he took
  8. Engine weight is posted... Looks like Bruce and Sean are closest on weight so far, and Box is closest on distribution. Still have mufflers to add too... once I figure out what to do there.
  9. yes, the frame is still the origianal rotus. I did add a tab for picking up the outboard shocks. I have a mod plan for that, but I'm going to wait till the car is back on the road, and do it as a weekend project.
  10. Hell yeah... you gotta have a V8 with those rear tires.
  11. Not because of safety. Freaking pot holes that show up out of nowhere. Well, I would not leave my car in south east DC, but north west is relatively safe, and paid parking is pretty safe too. Chet, I know you used to own a C5, so you appreciate how low they are. There are pot holes in DC that the C5 will not clear. and i'm not talking about the little plastic air dam. Couple of years ago I was going over the 395 bridge on my way to E street, and they had started shaving the bridge surface, but left the joints at the regular level. Basically very high speed bumps in the middle of a highway. People slowed down, and I had to take it like a man. The front guards took a nice scrape :banghead:
  12. can't help you with bran decision, but check out www.rockauto.com. They have many brands, and I have found their prices and service to be excellent.
  13. front is unchanged for now... after I get it running, I'm going to modify the pickup points for the upper Aarm.
  14. If we have an autocross, whoever has the closest guesses can drive her for 2 runs in the autocross - provided I have seen this person drive. 2 runs for the person with closest guess on total weight. 2 runs for the person with closest guess on weight bias. You can adjust your guesses until I post the engine / tranny weight. Once that's done, any post edited after that time will not count
  15. updated rear axle ,rear wheels / tires, front wheels. Front wheel measurement includes wheel, tire, rotor, calipers and pads, flex brake line, upright, lower and upper Aarms with heims, spring and shock. Does not include steering tierod.
  16. Great price.
  17. Yes another "contractor week"
  18. I will weigh it with all fluids, including 8 gallons of gas, but not me in the car. As a data point, when I first did the LS1 conversion, the car weighed 1700 lbs with a few gallons of gas. Since then, my wheels are larger and heavier, rear axle is changed (not sure about the weight difference), roll structure is heavier, dash structure is heavier. On the plus side, fuel tank is smaller and lighter, headers are lighter than the cast iron exhaust manifolds.
  19. here we go again... hmmm... the only thing that's FAR greater today is the ability of law enforcement to install speed cameras once the revenue potential of these devices sky rockets due to stupid speed limits. gasoline consumption is already on its way down, people are dumping big SUVs in favor of smaller more efficient cars. Let the market work its magic. Believe me, I drive slower and do my mini version of "hyper miling" to save gas when reasonable. Ford truck sales are down almost 50% from last year. All this from a pub. What is this world coming to?

    A Big WTF

Gary, the core of the problem is that most of the big name NHRA tracks are land locked, meaning they can not acquire additional land for longer runoffs. I do agree with your point. I think the solution they came up with is the worst.

  22. I might as well put my guess out there too... I'm guessing 1650 lbs 47/53 front to rear. Aim high
  23. I hate the thought of driving in DC. I try to not take the vette down there, let alone the seven.
  24. I suppose it's time for an update. After a frantic push to get the car done by June 21, I went dormant for a couple of weeks. Smashed my pinky pretty good, got sick, then the plasma broke (and we could have really used that)... so I totally lost momentum. I still managed to work on her an hour or two here and there, and the chassis is nearly ready for accepting parts now. The plasma parts FINALLY arrived today. I have to make two small cuts in the tunnel plates, and then on to cutting the floor aluminum. After that, I can start putting the drivetrain back in. Here is a pic with painting nearly complete. You can see an unpainted part near the rear of the tunnel, which will get cut out this weekend. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/130880879_CIMG2617.JPG
