  1. Not that kind of competition. competition as in competitor.
  2. Well, I'll be getting rid of the flexible spring steering doohickie, so the whole thing will be new.
  3. There is a thread in page 2 of the Tech section called "easy additional gauges" The unit I chose is called DashDaq. IF they offer a high speed interface for your particular PCM (they do a bunch of aftermarket and OEM ones), it is very nice. I shot this video to compare the responsiveness of their gauge compared to OEM vette gauges. It can do data acquisition (directly to a SD card or USB thumb drive). It will eventually also have GPS. You can also connect USB accelerometers, temp sensors, etc... to it. In its standard config, only a single wire hookup. www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/DashDAQ.wmv
  4. man, it looks SO clean.
  5. It's hard to say from the pic if the geometry is off or not. It is certainly not conventional. If the steering pickup points fall on the line that connect the lower and upper pickup points on both the inside and outside, i suppose there will be minimal bump steer. Those rack brackets sure look like they can flex though.
  6. Your welcome! All watches have been shipped, except Slomove... still waiting for address slowpoke
  7. I have a stand and a hoist that my friend is currently using. How long / when do you need it? nevermind... read the rest of your post. Let me see if my friend can free those pieces... it's the guy in the "Evening fun" thread, so I have to ask politely

    NFL Playoffs

Will anyone else be watching? After a very disappointing season, with blown late leads, a 52-7 spanking by the pats, death of Sean Taylor, etc..., my Skins finally put some wins together and made the playoffs with a 4 game winning streak. It was hard to imagine making the playoffs when we were 5-7. Now I actually think we have a shot at knocking off the Seahawks, and the next game would be at Dallas, where anything can happen. GO SKINS http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/18/18_1_214.gif
  9. The subject was intended to be understood that way, although Sean's interpretation is better. I've always had a soft spot for Jag and Range Rover, but who would buy a luxo car from India? They have a huge image problem to overcome in the US. And I'm not saying this because of racism or something. 20 years ago, would anybody buy a luxury car from Hyundai? Now they have proven themselves, and if they release an upscale car, people will consider it. BTW, Jag dealers are super pissed about this deal.
  10. [ariel]Atom HAS NO COMPETITION. PERIOD. :skep:[/ariel] :jester:
  11. Way to go FoMoCo... Bought Land Rover and Jag for 5.2 Billion. Selling for 1.5 - 2 Billion. I had never heard of Tata before - I imagine the typical luxo buyer hasn't either, at least in the US market.
  12. Rear view would help alot too. It's hard to visualize the back without the trunk. You got mad skilz by the way :yesnod: I sent my design to Caterham a while back. Still waiting for response: http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1776108325_catDesign.JPG :jester:
  13. the major thing the render lacks is a trunk area - that's kind of a must have. the elbow area will be annoying as heck on long cruises.
  14. If he came alive today and looked around, he would say HOLY CRAP! They put 650HP engines in production cars that pull over 1G and do over 200 MPH? WITH CUPHOLDERS? WTF!?!?!?! :jester: Seriously, lightness is just part of the formula. Come to think of it, look at the path he took. He always innovated, and the progression in his designs show it. From going mid-engine to aero innovation - he constantly innovated. I doubt he would care much for building the same design year after year. But even though Colin may think highly of it, perhaps being on the bleeding edge is not the smartest thing for a startup trying to make it in the US kit car market.
  15. It has a charm of its own, as do bike engines, and my trusty V8.
  16. well, I went with a Spa wheel off ebay. It's not D shaped, and a 270MM wheel. At the moment, the wheels and gauge display are the only parts of the car in my posession. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/700676761_CIMG2072.JPG
  17. start by seeing who will be driving these things. If your typical customer is 230 lbs, wears size 11 shoes and is over 6 feet (exaggerating a little), starting with a standard sized seven is probably a bad choice. Look around the forum. Frequently you'll see someone come in asking about height, footwell, etc... and the answer they get is you have to get a REALLY short haircut, and drive with your socks (again, exaggerating). next, look at the choice of drivetrains. Stick with what's cheap, light, easily obtained, easy to mod. It sounds sexy on paper to list a 15000 rpm redline and 8 turbos, but do you really measurably go any faster? owners are always free to up the power after they get the car. The basic car should be capable, but mainstream, especially for a startup operation. I've been on a handful of drives with a few members here. a 140hp Caterham will keep up with the higher performance versions just fine for spirited driving. I suspect even on the track, it's plenty of fun. follow the KISS principal. For 50-60K, there are plenty of REALLY capable techno cars in the market. The seven is a throwback car, and its simplicity is one of its strengths. Keep it cheap, reasonable quality. Details are huge. Nice fitting doors and top don't make the car faster, but will make for happy owners. Personally (many opinions on this topic on the forum), I think it's a plus to have a distinctive look. It may make it harder in the beginning, but if business takes off, you're not just a copycat. Nobody mistakes a WCM, Stalker, or Dino's Deman with the side pods for a Caterham. If your car is engineered right, and owners have success at autox or road racing, the distinctive look is a definite advantage. Drawing a parallel to factory five, they have a proven product now... It takes years to build that base.
  18. heh, a Baltimore meet will be much more suitable. Between now and May I'm sevenless, so I'll have to get my fix by meeting up with other sevens
  19. It's hard to say, because there are so many of us who have arrived at our particular se7ens from various perspectives. I'm pretty sure you will have a tough time if you're a start up and whatever you build ends up costing as much as a Caterham. The opening in this market is definitely sub 30K, perhaps sub 20K for a startup. But that's just my opinion, and I'm a cheap bastard The design at the start of this thread has captured alot of interest because it is fresh and different, yet unmistakably seven. Not easy to do.
  20. Se7en gods are testing your will power

    Evening fun

funny thing is that he says when you fire it, you don't see it at all. I guess at the moment of the event we close our eyes? He said even the Glock I was firing has a little flash, but I never saw it.
  22. great. I will try to make it. My car is in pieces again right now, and I'll have the kids, so I'll have the minivan
  23. Damn man, sorry to hear
