  1. If you think you'll have a few partners in crime who will autox regularly, you will probably have to invest in buying some cones, so you won't have to beg another group for it. I have heard Norm in our area has cones. You can also check with other clubs. When we talked to the Porsche club in Knoxville, they were willing to rent out their equipment for a very reasonable fee.

    >http://www.elisetalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30674 I have seen this happen to vettes too http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/cryin.gif
  3. Just to clarify, the point of these autocrosses would not be competitive events with points and championships. These would be more like test and tune, or instructional events, where the objective is to get seat time.

  6. Arya, these can be had for under $1K. Anybody interested in pursuing the steel option?

  9. We're way more "good natured" http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrinjester.gif Hopefully your schedule will work out. Seven owners are very friendly with their tool truck support guys http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/rofl.gif
  10. There are three factors that make it critical to not "cheat" on the dragon: 1. The road is VERY tight and most corners are blind. 2. There are alot of cars or bikes being driven enthusiastically in both directions, so it doesn't leave much time, or ability to react. 3. There are no shoulders
  11. Gert, that looks very nice. I did talk to Dennis today about quoting a steel trailer. He is supposed to have a fabricator get in touch with me directly.
  12. running out of gas in your Seven. For some odd reason, I think it happens with the Seven more often than with other cars http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/smile5.gif While on the trip with Al, Marcy and Bill, we had some good ones. Mine had to do with the plumbing in my tank leaving the last 1/3 of the tank useless. It happened on the DC beltway during morning rush hour. Fortunately the car didn't finally die until I was at our office building.
  13. One last post on the trip... I think both Al and I mentioned "do not cross the double yellows". Here are some offenders, and the pursuing war of words: http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2006-9/1217262/img_0011.jpg Comments on Killboy:
  14. It's a small world! Dean from Aluma is the guy we're working with to get quotes http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif
  15. It's good to be home after three 12 hour car days http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/hurray.gif. Al still has a few more hours to go.
  16. http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20061105_140705_IMG_1306_Small.JPG The rest of the pics are on my camera, which is in the trunk... will get those later tonight or tomorrow.
  17. Al says the picture is posted in his blog at >http://www.gardenstatesevens.org/wordpress We're 150 miles South of Winchester VA now... I should make it home around 8:30 Al will be home around 11:30. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/seeya.gif
  18. There is about a 30-40 minute drive between Fontana and Tapoco. Robinsville is a little closer, but you'll be parked near the main drag.
  19. Jerry, we drove to Fontana, but did not go to the lodge itself. The area looks fantastic. Running river, dam, and winding roads. You won't be disappointed. We have some more pics that we will post from the Fontana area.
  20. I'm only going to powdercoat the steel brackets that connect to the upright. I'll either polish the fenders or paint them green. I have the spray on undercoating and plan to do that on the inside of the fender.
  21. Autocross update: We visited the highschool lot that TN valley SCCA recommended. As they said, the pavement is a little rough. KillBoy recommended we go to 411 Motor Speedway. They had a nice setup with a 1/8 mile drag strip, circle track with infield roads. The Porsche club was seting up their autocross there. Tn talking with the Porsche club guys, it seems like the best place is a new concrete driver training facility for the Knoxville PD. Bill and Marcy are looking into this... We're on the trek back home now.
  22. this is a quote of various posts on his drag racing advice. It's geared towards the vette, but alot of applies to any car:
  23. Corvette forum member Ranger who lives in Maryland is known as the fastest quartermile guy around. He has consistantly extracted the best times out of stock, or close to stock cars. One of the things he is known for is running consistant 11.8s on a COMPLETELY stock C5 Z06 (with stock tires). The normal times for the C5 Z06 is 12.4 with a decent driver. This guy is a machine, and a nice guy to boot. Well, apparently he got his hands on a new C6 Z06. This is what he ran on completely stock Z06 with DOT legal drag radials: 10.856 on a stock production car http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/eek6.gif
  24. Al organized this trip and wanted to bring his car. Good thing too... I don't think he would've liked being a passenger in that car on the dragon. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrin5.gif
