  1. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/eek6.gif when you said $44K earlier, I didn't realize that was just for the engine! I guess reading is fundumental http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/leaving.gif
  2. 30 hour warranty? Just slightly better than 30 feet / 30 seconds, whichever comes first http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gif There are sequential tranny options for my big V8, but they are VERY cost prohibitive. I think the C5R/C6R trannies run something like $18K. Ofcourse they also handle 700 hp with no problem. Bit of an overkill. There is also a company called Zeroshift that makes guts for the Tremec trannies to enable you to shift without the clutch if you choose to... you use the traditional clutch when you want, but can bang through the gears.
  3. One might say mine qualifies as a truck engine http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/lol.gif 5.7L V8 here. I had a smaller V8 in there before, and could still see the ground through the engine bay, and felt the car could use more power (or is it cow bell). That problem is solved now. Not a traditional Seven approach, but I don't think about it much.
  4. The only experience I have with BEC is Formula SAE. That was A BLAST...
  5. Great question! You and I need to trade rides to find out. I figure we have roughly the same power to weight ratio. I'd say bike engined is more fun at the track, car engined is more fun as a daily street driver, but I have never driven a bike engined one. I can tell you one thing for sure... All the car engined ones can go backwards http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/rofl.gif http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrinjester.gif
  6. Saw it in the Rocky Mountain newsletter Michael D forwarded me http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/thumbsup.gif YouTube Video
  7. This link was sent to me by a fellow enthusiast from France. Apparently he had trouble registring. Hopefully we can get that resolved. >http://www.feuilleblanche.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=154&Itemid=62 http://www.feuilleblanche.com/images/stories/porfolio/mecanik/caterham_coul.gif

  9. that picture looks like it was taken at Carlisle, PA

  11. you really should not be running too rich at idle. Ideally you want to run slightly rich under full power, and stoich everywhere else - and no fuel on decel. running rich at idle will just help foul plugs and it gets worse when the engine is cold and you're trying to put load on it. All of these are generic comments. I don't know what specific setup you have.
  12. Works perfectly. Showing off rides is one of the purposes of the General section http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/thumbsup.gif
  13. There is also this... (look at the reverse option), although it'll be hard to adapt >http://bajoenterprises.com/

  15. Welcome aboard! 5- Compound bow and a winch http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/biggrinjester.gif
  16. I actually might go with a 2nd set. After I ordered these, I came across a head/cam package. I need to switch from my exhaust manifold setup to a header, so I may have to do a different cover too. These are 36" long.
  17. I bought 2 Not hard at all. I hadn't done it when I took the pic. Just expand a little by hand and slip it over. There are 4 sheetmetal screws that hold the existing shield on... I may or may not use those.
  18. My parts just arrived http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/hurray.gif Initial impressions. The grill, simply beautiful! As you can see from the pic, the size is very close. The tabs are slightly off, but I opted to bend them a little and have a tight fit, rather than enlarge the holes. I'm impressed how close Martin got the size, based on a picture. http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20061202_194903_CIMG1236.JPG Here is a picture of the exhaust cover (not installed yet): http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/20061202_195043_CIMG1237.JPG I opted for the stainless grill, and aluminum exhaust covers. If I had to do it over again, I'd recommend the stainless exhaust covers as well. The quality of the stainless steel grill is very impressive. The exhaust covers are very nice too, but: 1- The got a little squished during shipping. Nothing I couldn't fix by hand 2- The little tabs that hold the "7" in place are pretty thin. Would have been fine with steel, but seem fragile with Aluminum. Couple of words about dealing with Martin. The entire experience was very nice. Martin worked with me by sending PDF files of the pattern, which I checked against pictures I had on the car. What I did was I would print out his PDF, and bring the picture up on my screen. Then I would carefully adjust the zoom on the picture so it would match critical dimensions of the part to see if the shape of the grill was right. I ask Martin to make some adjustments, and the 2nd PDF was right on. I would definitely recommend dealing with him http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/thumbsup.gif Now I have to go paint the car to be worthy of the grill.
  19. I haven't raced there, but I've seen it, and I have to agree. Way too much concrete for my taste.
  20. it is... but the cd is about twice a normal car, and the frontal area is not quite half a normal sedan, so the overall drag is marginally more. Now, when you lift of the gas, what's carrying you is your momentum, which is a function of your speed and mass (weight). Seven is a feather weight, so it slows down more quickly given the same drag as a normal car.

  25. Indiana SP CVEU Today Sgt. Rich Kelly of the Lafayette Post's life was spared today. He was sitting along side I-65 conducting a level III inspection when another semi-tractor pulling a flatbed ran over the top of his police car. Sgt. Kelly sustained a broken vertebrae and was able to exit his car and use his cell telephone to call for help. The driver that struck him was going too fast and locked his brakes up thus losing control. The crash is still under investigation. When you look at the photo you realize only by the grace of God Sgt. Kelly life was spared. Rich and his wife have 4 young daughters. It is hard to believe that Sgt. Kelly survived this crash and may get out of the hospital sometime today. He was in the car at the time of the crash conducting a level III inspection. The driver he stopped was placed OOS for violations and the driver that struck him was operating on poor brakes on the trailer. http://www.grayslakefire.com/Pictures/1.bmp http://www.grayslakefire.com/Pictures/2.bmp
