1. Hi John, I suppose it is possible. When I talked to the guy that worked at Rotus, he mentioned that a few years before the owner of the company passed away, he put the LSD in the car. I don't think this car has that many miles on it because it had been stored in a garage for quite a few years (but not really sure) and was never titled. I guess the only way to find out is to open her up.
 2. Well, now that i've gotten over the rush of the engine, fixed the passenger side exhaust, and the clutch master, I started fiddling with the suspension. I raised the rear to set the ride height, and noticed my wheels turn in opposite direction. I was told this car had a LSD, but suspected it didn't b/c I could only hear the tire breaking loose with my right ear... I just wrote it off as my left ear being deaf from being close to the exhaust. smileys/smiley36.gif[/img]

Joe, I know you just bought a 4.10 LSD. Do you mind if I ask where you bought it from and how much it cost? Also, how involved was the install?

Anyone else with similar info, please chime in.

 3. Mine came with a Griffin aluminum radiator - i think 3 core, but not sure. From the factory, the fans on LS1s are set to come on at 226 F, so as long as she stays south of 230, it'll be alright.
 4. Speaking of the radiator, that is a concern of mine with the LS1. I drove it to work and back yesterday. it was in the mid 60s in the afternoon, and I got caught in pretty heavy rush hour. Temps held steady at 200 (thermostat is 198). So far so good. The real test is in the summer though. BTW, I did like the sound of the Rover better than the LS1. LS1 has a different firing order than previous GM engines, so it sounds different.
 5. I traded the 4.6 to get the LS1. I did about a month of calling around. I talked to your guy up in the north east, as well as the guys in Michigan. By the time I added up all the $$$ to make some real power out of that engine, it was way cheaper to go the LS1 route. With the LS1 deal, fuel injection, multiple coil ignition and 6 speed tranny were included, so it was hard to pass up. If your slicks had any life at all when you ran your 60 foot times, I bet you were down in the 1.5-1.7 range.
 6. Joe, the number I have heard to estimate your quarter mile time based on 1/8 mile time is 1.54... An 8 second 1/8 mile run translates to 12.3 quarter mile, which is a very respectable time. Ofcourse it could be off by a few tenths based on traction, top end power, etc...
 7. Joe, I'll take mine to the drag strip and run a 1/8 th mile to see what she does. I KNOW i'll get kicked off if I run 1/4 mile without a 6 point roll bar. But first I have to get more and softer rubber. As it stands right now, the tires won't even hold in 4th gear. Without tires I'll run a really good trap speed, but not a great time. In third, I can spin 'em at 2500 RPM, just going down the highway and going past 1/2 throttle. In 4th, the tires hold for a while, but once the engine gets past 3000-3500 range, they start slipping again. It's alot of fun. I think my clutch master cylinder died today, so I have to fix that before getting on the road again.
 8. Picked up the Rotus today. Now it has enough power smileys/smiley4.gif[/img]

I will definitely need some R compound tires.

Weighed the car... 1670 lbs with no fuel, but the rest of the fluids in. Not light, but not too bad.

And, an engine shot.

 9. 60 miles... cold is one thing, but the Rotus won't be driven in snow They're calling for 4-6".

 11. Joe, take a look at this topic for various solutions: >http://www.usa7s.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=81&PN=1
 12. Rob, that's "Ideal". I guess I'll find out soon enough if these batteries have a short life. Even if it lasts 2 years, for me it's not too bad.
 13. I wonder if there is any problem with jumping them.
 14. I ended up picking QA1 double adjustables, 200 lb/in front, 170 lb/in in the rear. They accept spring swaps, so if it's not the right combo, I can get it changed.
 15. PCM = Powertrain Control Module (I meant to say PCM, not PCU) Heater is gone. I'll call Dennis. If he hasn't tossed it, I'll ask him to save it for you.slngsht38747.2920717593
 16. Welcome aboard. I'm a Rotus owner and started this site because I think you get a better sense of community with this type of setup than various email lists. And yes, it's meant for any 7 (of any type) owner or enthusiast. I'm definitely open to suggestions on improvements. One thing on my todo list is to start a thread of various 7 resources, sites, etc...

 18. You're right. Considering the $$$ in the engine conversion, I want to limit shocks/springs to about 700 - 800 range. Thanks.
 19. This puppy is getting closer to firing up... The dip stick needs to be bent - the only part that won't clear the hood http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/ls1front.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/ls1side.jpg Fuel filter, pump and regulator: http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/ls1fuel.jpg PCU and battery. Battery will probably be mounted like that. I'll probably build a heat shield for this area to seperate it from the rest of the engine compartment. http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/ls1shelf.jpg
 20. A woman was in bed with her lover when she heard her husband opening the front door. "Hurry!" she said, "stand in the corner." She quickly rubbed baby oil all over him and then she dusted him with talcum powder. "Don't move until I tell you to," she whispered. "Just pretend you're a statue." "What's this, honey?" the husband inquired as he entered the room. "Oh, it's just a statue," she replied nonchalantly. "The Smiths bought one for their bedroom. I liked it so much, I got one for us too." No more was said about the statue, not even later that night when they went to sleep. Around two in the morning the husband got out of bed, went to the kitchen and returned a while later with a sandwich and a glass of milk. "Here," he said to the 'statue', "eat something. I stood like an idiot at the Smiths' for three days and nobody offered me so much as a glass of water."
 21. Joe, thanks for the info. Do you have the shock part numbers you used?
 22. Well, it's almost time to buy some shocks and springs. What shocks and springs (spring rates) are you using... (especially if you autox). Part numbers are appreciated.
 23. Who's using 'em? What size, and how much did you pay roughly.
 24. The new >home page is the first step in small changes to come. There will be some graphics added... perhaps a rotating GIF of some member rides. For now, the point of changing the home page was to display shortcuts to the most recent topics on the left. As other sections of the forum become more active, this feature will come in handy. If anyone has graphics experience, I could use some help with a banner design. Cheers.slngsht38743.4525925926
