  2. He has mad skills. Amazing stuff.
  3. wow Martin, that's a very nice car. Out of my budget range, and against my tinkering nature. LOL I noticed it has no diff in the back... something I have been contemplating. I think you can make a suspension that can handle fine with no diff when you're pulling g's, like in autox... not sure how fun that car is to drive around a parking lot.
  4. damn, I miss the old days. They've come a long way. Got any more info on the car?
  5. Hey John, Yes, Dennis' site is amazing... He has taken car design for a small shop to a whole new level.
  6. good question about size... don't know... this one is going to be designed in CAD, and since now I have access to a CNC Router, a CNC plasma, and a CNC mill, gonna have lots of little parts I just couldn't make before. It's going to be chain drive (engine sits same orientation as in the bike), enclosed diff (housing just around the gears), with single rear disc. I'm kind of thinking about doing inboard brakes with halfshafts in the front... That does add overall weight, but should provide outstanding wheel control by making caliper and disc part of the sprung weight.
  7. Arya will take over Frankn7 I wanna go to something much closer to my Formula SAE days Yeah, I'm not that concerned about bodywork - minimal to get it on the road. Curious why that RCR car weighs 1300-1400 lbs. Seems a bit on the heavy side. Is it supersized?
  8.
  9. so... time to start something new. give me some opinions. my idea right now is a small two seater... target 800-850 lbs. This would be a mid-engine car, chain drive. have a line on an '07 CBR 1000RR for $1k, including electronics, harnesses, exhaust header - not including radiator. give me whatever nuggets of info you think will be useful.:lurk:
  10. well, wish I had seen this before last saturday - someone needed to talk some sense into me.

quite a few years ago a ground hog got under the hood of my biz partner's Buick Park Ave and chewed a bunch of wires on the left front... headlight wires and fiberoptic lines.
  13. funny how that works, isn't it?
  14. yes, I had a passenger all day long. most runs with 2 instructors. Next to the last run was Scott Lentz. On the accident run, it was a guy with a vette who wanted to get a feel for a seven. LOL
  15. ... and here's where the car came to rest...
  16. It was dark by the time I got home... Went out there with the iPhone and a flash light to take a look. Overall, I'm very happy with how the car reacted to the beating it took. Basically the lower front edge of the frame hit the curb and folded until the tires got there and the car climbed on top. I think the welds held up pretty well. My Aarms as 120 wall tubing. Heims are all 1/2" Take a look
  17. Hank, you can use your seven as a tire chuck on that thing. LOL. it's massive
  18. Are you sure you can pull your seven with that? very
  19. Jack, :nonod: It was a BMW club event. I did not have the sense to just not run. Hind sight is 20/20. The opening was 25 feet total.
  20. we shall see if I keep Frankn7 - if Arya buys Frankn7, I'll go the bike route. Two sevens in the family is better than one. Otherwise I'll keep, rebuild and continue having fun with it. The way my free time goes though... it'll be a while if I have to work on it...
  21. I do have some soreness, but I think it's from all the pushing, pulling, lifting, etc... to get the car home with no front wheels  Not feeling bad at all.
  22. IF Arya buys it, I will buy a partially build Yamaha R1 powered Caterham that's for sale locally. Waiting for my phone to ring Arya :toetap:  I'm going to look at the other car this afternoon.
  23. BTW, here is where I wrecked (from memory - may not be the exact setup)... I didn't have telemetry running, so I'm just guessing at speeds... About 40mph slalom coming towards the curb. A little box with sharp 90 degrees to force you to slow way down, but wide open into a higher speed slalom on the other side. I hit that box perfectly, but opened it up a little too aggressive and got sideways. Decided to put both feet in and hit the curb, rather than try to correct... Missed the light pole by a few feet.
  24. hey guys, finally got the car home. Thanks for all the support. did a brief survey. As far as bent tubes, It looks like on the bottom of the car everything is good from the motor mounts back. On the top rail, everything looks good (naked eye) from a triangulation point in front of the passenger footwell. So, at least 3 tubes need to be replaced on each side, plus the whole suspension box, both Aarms, etc... I believe the engine did shift forward somehow, but I'm not quite sure how, so the damage could be more extensive. There is a one piece aluminum plate that covers the entire floor pan of the car from motor mounts back. That sheet is completely intact with all rivets, so I'm fairly certain all the floor tubes are OK. We're scheduled for some rain tomorrow, so I've just covered it up and going to not look at it for a couple of days.
