Is anyone using five point harnesses? If so, what brand, model? This one > http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&pa rt=SIM%2D29073BK&N=4294925234+4294839020+400151&autoview=sku from Simpson says: Which style do you have? There is also this unit from RJS which is alot cheaper: > http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&pa rt=BOB%2D50502%2D19%2D23&N=4294925234+4294839020+400095&auto view=sku Is the difference in price due to brand name, or am I getting something better with Simpson? RJS has 3" lap belt where as Simpson has 2" lap belts at a higher price...

Actually, i see you have braces going towards the back of the car as well.

it's hard to tell from this pic... is the only difference the cross member? and is the cross member in the same plane as the roll bar? http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/2005-06-30_073801_2005-06-29_000251_Joe_and_Rotus.jpg

Does the standard Rotus roll bar meet SCCA requirements for road racing?

The car is in front of Chris Custer's old house. And yes, the car is still for sale. Asking price is $7K, and I think that's pretty firm.

I took a few more pics, trying to show any visible frame members. There doesn't appear to be any rust on the tubes, at least that I could see: http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/pict0311.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/pict0312.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/pict0313.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/pict0314.jpg http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/pict0315.jpg

... to Dennis' shop that is. Rolled her out of the garage, and loaded her on the trailer. If there was any doubt in my mind about this car, it was cleared when I saw her sitting on the road; even with half flat tires, the hood off it, and a head light missing. smileys/smiley4.gif[/img] </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> here are a couple of pics</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img src='http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/pict0316.jpg' alt='pict0316.jpg'></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img src='http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/pict0317.jpg' alt='pict0317.jpg'></p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> <img src='http://www.usa7s.com/forum/uploads/slngsht/pict0318.jpg' alt='pict0318.jpg'></p>

So, did you say you have 13X10 wheels or 15X10? Also, do they offer R compound street tires for the size you use? I think I'm going to hold off painting the car for time being... too many changes coming
-
From talking to Joe W, and a couple of Caterham owners, it seems like the best setup for autocross is 10" wide rims. For those of you who have them, what size rim, brand, and tires do you recommend? I want something that's street legal. Also, 10" wide rims don't fit in the stock Rotus fenders, do they? This is important to me, because if they don't, I may hold off on body work on the car until the 10" rims are accommodated. My car already needs a new nose (it has the one with the spoiler, but needs the nose without the spoiler with larger radiator openning to keep the V8 cool), and may need a new hood if I decide to not keep the olds V8 (therefore won't need the current hole in the middle of the hood). So, if the fenders will need modding too, I might as well save all the body work till later. Thoughts?

Dan, thanks for the kind remarks. I'm hoping to assemble everything I can find about our cars, since time is always against us. If you have any ideas on improving the site, or anything to contribute regarding the cars, I'd really appreciate it. Also, feel free to hang around the off topic section, which I hope will take off about the members' other interests, etc... Also, you can subscribe to any particular topic, or forum section, so you're notified when a new message is posted. -Mazda

For those of you who have the battery mounted on the top of the passenger side footwell, what is the physical size of the battery?

Triad Sports Car Club (>http://www.auto-x.com) sponsors several autocross events a year. Forum member Old Yellow is an officer, and from what he tells me, they offer a heck of deal for all day autocross test and tune events... The fee is only $35. If you're anywhere near that area, autocross is a great way to learn about and enjoy your cars.
