  1. Hi, Did your car arrive already? If it's in running condition, we should get together and compare some notes. You are in luck, as the only mechanic who was on the original Rotus team is only an hour away from DC. Welcome aboard.
  2. No way I can make it out this year. Work piled up as far as I can see
  3. Yeah, I don't know if we'll ever get the type of momentum that we'd get if we had an east cost or west coast event. I have to manage to take a month off, hop in the car and head west. Not happening this year for sure.
  4. copy / paste... I'm not that creative.
  5. April 26, 2010 Somali Pirates Say They Are Subsidiary of Goldman Sachs Could Make Prosecution Difficult, Experts Say NORFOLK, VIRGINIA (The Borowitz Report) – Eleven indicted Somali pirates dropped a bombshell in a U.S. court today, revealing that their entire piracy operation is a subsidiary of banking giant Goldman Sachs. There was an audible gasp in the courtroom when the leader of the pirates announced, “We are doing God’s work. We work for Lloyd Blankfein.” The pirate, who said he earned a bonus of $48 million in dubloons last year, elaborated on the nature of the Somalis’ work for Goldman, explaining that the pirates forcibly attacked ships that Goldman had already shorted. “We were functioning as investment bankers, only every day was casual Friday,” the pirate said. The pirate acknowledged that they merged their operations with Goldman in late 2008 to take advantage of the more relaxed regulations governing bankers as opposed to pirates, “plus to get our share of the bailout money.” In the aftermath of the shocking revelations, government prosecutors were scrambling to see if they still had a case against the Somali pirates, who would now be treated as bankers in the eyes of the law. “There are lots of laws that could bring these guys down if they were, in fact, pirates,” one government source said. “But if they’re bankers, our hands are tied.”
  6. no, Cameron. Ryan does not care about such things. But he is even more persistent when it's important to him.
  7. The only way the Rotus will make it that far out is when we have a national meet in that part of the country. Hoping that comes true in the next couple of years.

  9. when are we taking the Rotus to Yellowstone? At the Dragon you said by 2010 we'll go to Yellowstone. :toetap05: He remembers that, but has to be reminded to brush his teeth every night :skep:
  10. That's odd... a guy who is "into" cars to notice where the engine is, should probably realize that's the way the car came
  11. I've gotten that comment so many times (of course in my case, they're right). Funniest one, was this intern that had just started at work like a week earlier. She comes into work, and I overhear her telling the person she was working for "did you see what's in the parking lot? some idiot drove half a car to work" Of course her manager is ROLLING as he walks down the hallway to introduce her to me.
  12. EraserX, I completely missed the post above yours. Ruadhd2, Congrats. Any questions you have, ask away in the general and tech sections. Also, you're right around the corner from me! Interestingly enough, there was another Rotus in Silver Spring, which was sold a couple of years ago. There is a pretty good contingent of sevens in the area. we should get together.
  13. no, different car... I have chassis #1, Rob has #2, Dan has #3
  14. How're you doin' Bob, have not heard from you lately.
  15. same experience here. every time. order this afternoon, have it tomorrow. Can't ask for more than that.
  16. wow, I've never seen such unanimously negative impressions of a car here
  17. Dan, the idiot who does that has been banned here several times. He doesn't have anything better to do. Sorry about the job, and good luck with the sale.
  18. There is this guy on the corvetteforum that pulled the best car prank eva! The guy is pretty well off and family is well known in a small town in Utah... So, he planted an empty hand gun in his dad's truck, and asked a friend deputy pull his dad over. Deputy approaches the truck from the passenger side, has his dad roll down the window, and asks for license and registration. Dad takes out the license, and goes to get the registration out of the glove box. He is like when he pops it open and a hand gun is sitting there. Then the deputy clues him in. And it's all caught on tape

  20. Near the edges where the curve of the dash makes the gap bigger, there will be an aluminum piece covering that.
  21. lol. I have to work on a cowl, but have not had time. Slammed with work for the next few months, so right now the hood is just riding on a temporary lip I have tacked in place. I also have to put sheetmetal to seal the tops of the footwells. Kinda toasty right now, but not too bad since the exhaust is totally outside the car, and it's not real hot out yet. SO MUCH to do Plan for the height difference between dash and hood is to black out the windshield bottom - similar to what you see in production cars. There is a slight gap between the windshield and the dash - maybe 1/8" that I would probably seal with a piece of rubber. Yeah, Jon's cleaning job was funny last year. His standards and skills are just way higher than mine.
