  1. Looking at the relationship of the tires to the front wings and the license plate to the ground, I don't think the body roll is exaggerated at all by the camera. Great looking Seven.
  2. Yes, it is the same one discussed on this forum. Six months ago (pre-flood) it could have been bought for $32k.
  3. :iagree: I sort of agree with that. I like having an extremely rare and different car. OTOH I'd like to see the existing Caterham dealers make a good living and stay in business.
  4. There was no criticism in my post, implied or otherwise. If anything it was a statement of support. I would have liked to have been there to show that support.
  5. Too bad we are just finding out about Scottsdale. With a little advance notice I and maybe some others might have trailered or driven our Caterhams down there just to show a little owner support (and take in the auction). Superformance might want to look into becoming a sponsor of this forum and having a presence here.
  6. Caterham USA is still in business as a Caterham dealer. I'm sure you could arrange to buy a car from them if you so desired. Give Jon a call. 303-765-0247
  7. I'll take the single. PM on the way,
  8. The 2002 WRX which is the main donor car for the 818 and the first WRX sold by Subaru in the USA came with 227 HP as rated by Subaru. Later models had HP increases, my 2014 WRX is rated at 265 HP.
  9. Here's another size comparison from the GBB last summer. The rollbar almost cleared the front bumper. http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii584/scannon929/GBB%20Canada%20Trip/The%20Grizzley%20Bear%20Blat/DSCN4677_zps5da7ad4c.jpg
  10. Got any pictures to share?
  11. That makes current the -5F at my place seem like a heat wave!
  12. I had a chat with Jon from Caterham USA this morning. He is happy with passing the importer role on to Superformance and getting out of the hassles and paperwork involved in getting the cars into the country. He has other businesses and doesn't want or have the time for an increased role as Caterham builds sales in the USA. He will remain as a dealer as he enjoys putting the cars together. About half of his sales are kits and the rest are assembled cars. He has five in process at the moment and six more on the way. He mentioned that he sells more CSRs in this country than they sell in England. I asked him about the 160 and whether he would be getting any of them. He was not much interested in it mostly because the difficulty of sourcing the Suzuki engines which are not certified for the US and not available here.
  13. Bruce, What is the status of Caterham USA in Denver with this change? Will they still be a dealer but not the distributor?
  14. I see you've got that baby idling at 1,250 RPM already! Congratulations and Happy New Year.
  15. Wow, I wonder where that leaves Caterham USA in Denver.
  16. R.C.M.P. A Mountie pulled a car over on the Trans Canada about 2 miles West of Winnipeg. When the Mountie asked the driver why he was speeding, the driver answered that he was a magician and a juggler and he was on his way to Brandon to do a show that night at the Shrine Circus and didn't want to be late. The Mountie told the driver he was just fascinated by juggling, and if the driver would do a little juggling for him then he wouldn't give him a speeding ticket. The driver told the Mountie that he had sent all of his equipment on ahead and didn't have anything to juggle. The Mountie told him that he had some flares in the trunk of his patrol car and asked if he could juggle them. The juggler stated that he could, so the Mountie got three flares, lit them and handed them to the juggler. While the man was doing his juggling act, a car pulled in behind the patrol car. A drunk, good old boy, driving through from Alberta got out and watched the performance briefly. He then went over to the patrol car, pulled opened the rear door and then got in. The Mountie observed him doing this and went over to the patrol car, opened the door and asked the drunk what he thought he was doing. The drunk replied, You might as well take me to jail ... "Cause there's no f#in` way I can pass that test" Happy New Year everyone. If you're speeding tonight make sure your juggling skills are up to par.
  17. Steve, My friend who owned the car when it was flooded lives in Lyons, Colorado. He must have bought it from the St. Louis owner. I know he was not the original owner. You might want to pass along the info about the car to the original owner. Skip
  18. Way too much for a flood car. It will be interesting to see if this car turns up for sale sometime in the future and whether it will still have a salvage title. Here's the VIN from the sale page for future reference: DRMVB0000156802M0 I'm guessing that is a state assigned VIN from Missouri. The Kirkham Cobra went for $61k.
  19. I saw that the bid had jumped $5k today. Was someone bidding against you or did you just make a big jump to discourage other bidders? Good luck!
  20. That thought occurred to me as well.
  21. Options on the car per the ex-owner: 6 speed Trans Limited slip diff, I think ratio is. 3:62/1 Brake upgrade Leather adjustable seats Heated (defrost coils ) windshield. (Maybe all had that). Can't recall what else. I had put new Odessey (sp?) battery in it recently before flood. Not sure if that survived , but I t wasn't under water. I believe soft top was in boot when it left here, and driver's carpet was on top of passenger's in passenger footwell. Full doors were on car. No lowered floor.
  22. Concerning water in the engine, transmission and differential, the ex-owner sent me the following: It appeared, from the oil slick trailing out from beneath the car following the flood, that water at least series seemed into the engine's sump, the transmission, and possibly the rear end. Not sure what "at least series seemed" is supposed to mean. He sent it to me from a cell phone so some fat fingering seems to be involved.
  23. You can see where the water got to, not as bad as I thought when I first talked to John after the flood. Since the air cleaner stayed above water I doubt any got into the engine at all. It also looks as if the ECU remained above water.
  24. The car was flooded to the level of the horizontal panel in the engine compartment where the battery normally sits. That means the ECU was under water but the instrument panel was above the water. I would speculate that the column mounted ignition switch was likely under water since it is below the lower level of the dash board. There was no mud in the car, just a thin white layer of something after the water dried up. The car was under water for at least 4 days, that's how long the flooding lasted in that area before receding. He is going to send me pictures later today or tomorrow and I will post them.
  25. I don't know the answer to that one. I have a call into John to get the answer and will post it later.
