Has anyone fabricated or bought a trailer hitch that would work on a Caterham SV with deDion rear suspension? Pictures or info would be appreciated. My 5/8 scale Seven should finally be delivered this week and I have a Harbor Freight 4 x 8' trailer to carry it on that hooks up to my Miata. I would like to be able to tow the Baby 7 with the Caterham but mounting a hitch to it seems almost impossible. I think the trailer plus the Baby 7 should come in around 400 lb total.

Does anyone have a trailer for their 7
scannon replied to 7 plus 2's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Here's my motorcycle trailer, simple its not, effective it is. Its a Haulmark Lohauler specifically made to haul motorcycles. Low height, V nose and a ramp. Works perfect for Sevens and even Miatas will fit but you have to step over the doors to get out. -
Although they make good quality parts, every time (3x) I have ordered from them I experienced the same thing you are. I missed a Lotus Club weekend trip because the half hood I ordered was weeks late arriving. They sent me an email saying it had been shipped. After about 10 days I sent them an email asking about it and they said it was going to ship early the next week! It was almost two weeks more before I got it.

It will depend if the splines on the quick release unit match the splines on the steering shaft already on the car. One possible downside is the length of the Works Bell unit. It looks as if it will push the steering wheel a couple of inches away from the dash and closer to your body. The quick release I have came with the upper steering shaft which matched the hub. I like the easy on feature of the Works Bell. I have to look where the flat spot is oriented on the shaft before I can line up the wheel and install it.

http://www.autoblog.com/2013/09/12/caterham-620r-test-video/?a_dgi=aolshare_email So who is going to be first to order one on this side of the pond? It would be me if I had the $$s.

Colorado Sevens Gathering 2013 - Pictures

Yes, we had only a few clouds and no rain for the blat. The British Motoring Conclave scheduled for this weekend has been postponed on a week to week basis until the grounds dry out enough to allow the cars on the grass. No rice but the ducks are having a great time in the back yard. These are pictures of my back and side yards as of this afternoon. The irrigation canal beyond the fence in the last picture is about 6' above normal and overflowing on the other side. -
I had a similar experience in a Ferrari 360 Modena with the flappy paddles. I drove it on the track with no time on the road to get used to it. I had a hard time not easing up on the throttle when upshifting which really ruins the smooth flow of power during the shift. Downshifting was great with the throttle blipping and the great sound from the intakes just behind your ears. The owner had me downshift at the apex while hard on the brakes and it didn't step out and made me sound and look like a far better driver than I was. This was the first flappy paddle car for the owner and he sold it after 6 months and ordered a new one with the 6 speed manual transmission which he kept until he got a 458 Italia which only comes with the paddles.

I recently had a new one cut from flat safety glass using the old one for a pattern and mounted in the frame for $125. Its not heated but I had never needed to use the defrost so I wasn't worried about that.

Is that a power brake vacuum unit I see on the firewall? A first for a Seven?

Colorado Sevens Gathering 2013 - Pictures

Yes, one Miata is from Florida but he lives in Denver now. I think you should have shown it as is with pictures of what happened and how it was fixed. Is the bear trophy still mounted in the headlight? -
The gathering was yesterday (Saturday). We met at the Cars & Coffee in Lafayette and then drove to my shop in Erie. We had 5 Sevens, 2 Caterhams, 1 Stalker V8, 1 Locost and 1 Birkin. Another Birkin joined us at the Lunch break at the Wondervu Cafe. Russ and Jane from Kansas joined us in their Locost with a mighty 1,300 cc Crossflow engine rated at 58 HP. With the altitude they had a little trouble keeping up on the uphill grades. Mike with his 430 HP LS3 powered Stalker however had no problem. The Stalker became street legal on Thursday and this was it's first long drive. Also along for the roughly 140 mile blat in the foothills were a Miata Italia, Mazdaspeed Miata (factory turbo model), one each NA & NB Miatas and a BMW M3 Roadster. Traffic was surprisingly light for a Saturday and we were able to drive briskly most of the time. Weather was clear with a few high clouds and the constables practically non-existent. A good time was had by all and a rather boisterous time was had during the lunch stop. Some of the pictures were taken by Mighty Mike, the rest by me. http://s1261.photobucket.com/user/scannon929/library/Colorado%20Sevens%20Gathering%20Fall%202013

I started with 500+ photos and narrowed it down to those 235. It took eight hours to upload the original 500+ photos from my PC to photobucket.

Cars and Coffee gatherings are good places to find Sevens. -

Hi Brian, Welcome to the forum. Let us know where you live and someone in your area can tell you where to find them locally. -
We were quite proud of ourselves getting Taber's car back on the road so they could finish the trip. All ten Sevens had at least one breakdown. Mine was a fuel injection hose seeping gasoline. I had replaced it last winter but the new piece must have been sitting on the shelf a long time as it had surface cracks all over it and a couple were leaking.

This August I did a 24 day trip with my Caterham. First stop was the Flyin Miata Summer Camp in Palisade, Colorado for four days of fun. I towed the Caterham to this event and then on to Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. At Red Deer 10 Seven type cars met for a drive through the Canadian Rockies to Vancouver Island. The Truck and trailer were left in Red Deer at the hotel until our return 12 days later. I then towed the Caterham back home. The pictures in this link are of the Canadian part of the trip. The Canadian Rockies lived up to and even exceeded all the hype you hear about them, the pictures do not do them justice. This part of the trip was organized by Terry Johns, an Englishman who lives in Red Deer and is a dealer in Caterham 7s. The trip was well organized and I believe everyone had a very good time, I know I did. Six Caterham 7s were shipped over from England for this trip and it was great fun getting to know the people who came along with them. This is my first attempt at putting together a slideshow on Photobucket, I hope you enjoy it. http://s1261.photobucket.com/user/scannon929/slideshow/GBB%20Canada%20Trip/The%20Grizzley%20Bear%20Blat

Bump for a reminder that if you are planning on participating and haven't sent me an RSVP, please send me one ASAP as I need a headcount for the lunch reservation.

I have 5" motorcycle lights on my Caterham. They have both high and low beams and produce adequate light for night driving.

How to make a 7 look even smaller

Tom, That garage makes the Unimog look tiny. -
I have 4 x 4 1/4" to 4 x 100mm adapters on my Caterham. They are 28mm thick and were made by a local machine shop. They have been on the car for about 15k miles with no problems. With these I can run my 38mm offset 7 x 15" Miata wheels with 205/50 tires on the front and 225/50 on the rear.

This puts it into perspective. It takes tourists up onto the glacier. http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii584/scannon929/Miata%20Photo%20Challenge/GBB%20Trip%20including%20FM%20Summer%20Camp/DSCN4676_zps50367048.jpg
