Assembled 7 without drivetrain in Canada
scannon replied to BCBirk's topic in Parts For Sale / Wanted
I got curious about the car and emailed the seller, here is his response: I've loaned out my book "Lotus Seven & the Independents: Featuring the Lotus Seven and a History of the World's Independent Builders" and can't remember who has it so I can't look up RM Industries and get more info. Edit: The seller sent me some pictures, you can view them here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3290225/2002-mazda-miata-mx-5/page-2 2nd Edit: I just discovered I posted this reply in the wrong thread so I have moved it here. -

Looks like it might be a Westfield judging by the one piece nosecone and bonnet. -
**Rrriiiiinnnnggg, rrriiiinnnngg,** **'Hello?'** **'Hi honey. This is Daddy. Is Mommy near the phone?'** **'No, Daddy. She's upstairs in the bedroom with Uncle Gabe.'** **After a brief pause, Daddy says,** **'But honey, you haven't got an Uncle Gabe.'** **'Oh yes I do, and he's upstairs in the room with Mommy, Right now..'** Brief Pause. **'Uh, okay then, this is what I want you to do. Put the phone down on the table, run upstairs and knock on the bedroom door and shout to Mommy that Daddy's car just pulled into the driveway.'** **'Okay, Daddy, Just a minute.'** **A few minutes later the little girl comes back to the phone.** **'I did it, Daddy.'** **'And what happened, honey?' ** **Well, Mommy got all scared, jumped out of bed with no clothes on and ran around screaming. Then she tripped over the rug, hit her head on the dresser and now she isn't moving at all!'** **'Oh my God!!! What about your Uncle Gabe?'** **'He jumped out of the bed with no clothes on, too. He was all scared and he jumped out of the back window and into the swimming pool. But I guess he didn't know that you took out the water last week to clean it. He hit the bottom of the pool and I think he's dead.'** *****Long Pause***** **Then Daddy says,** **'Swimming pool? ............Is this 486-5731?'* **No, I think you have the wrong number........*

http://www.flixxy.com/honda-u3-x-personal-mobility-device.htm Looks like a fun and useful tool. I hope they produce and sell it for a reasonable price.

Scott: Thanks for the kind words. It was fun to build the car but driving it is an absolute blast. She's not a garage queen and has been averaging 2,500 miles per year. Those pictures were her first outing the second year. She was as fresh and clean as I could make her. danilo: The frame rails measure 315mm just forward of the front pivot points. It hard to get a good measurement as the two pivot points are not in the same plane, both lateral and transverse. The front pivot points for the upper and lower A frames measures about 235mm, again the same problem as above. Rear A frame pivot points measure about 195 mm. I tried to attach a picture of the mounting points but the Manage Attachments button is not working. PM me with your regular email and I will send the photo to you.

You're welcome

From my '04 SV, taken with a tape measure, accuracy probably +/- 2mm. 1) Front leg 455mm, pivot to pivot point Rear leg 365mm Center to center inner pivot points 380mm 2) 735mm center of bushing bolts 3) 580mm on 2 & 3 it appears that rear pivots are the same distance apart, difficult to measure with parts getting in the way.

I looked around on the website but couldn't find a price. Does anyone know what they cost?

Its the last four digits of a much longer number. It looks indented into the tire vs. everything else on the sidewall which is raised lettering.

Here's a link to a tire size comparator. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html Its at the bottom of the page. Keep in mind that all tires of a give size are not created equal as far as diameter, width and aspect ratio but it gives a pretty good comparison. It is set up for the stock tire size for an early Miata but you can change it to whatever size you want and can put several tires sizes in there to compare many sizes against your base.

The 5 speed Miata trans is a much smoother shifting box than the six speed. The Miata has a wide enough torque band that the closer ratio six speed is superfluous. I've had two Miatas with six speeds and hated both of them. Seems like you were always shifting at the most inconvenient times, such as getting on the throttle just past the apex and hitting the rev limiter. Get used to running the engine at higher revs on the highway, it won't hurt it, the engine was designed for it. On one trip a group of six Miatas ran at triple digit speeds for over an hour and a half with no problems.

Just a heads up. Starting 8 PM Mountain (right now), channel 264 if you have Direct TV. It looks like they are full length versions, not the chopped up ones we usually get.

I've had a similar one in my Miata for the last 8 years. It worked well until it sprung a leak awhile back. I need to pull it out and see if it can be repaired or get a new one.

For local blats I carry the factory jack and handle as well as a 1/2" drive ratchet, short extension and thinwall socket in the bag the jack came in. Generally nothing else unless I am expecting rain or cold, then the side curtains and the hood go in the boot as well along with a jacket and gloves. The fire extinguisher is bolted to the floor in front of the passenger seat. Registration and insurance papers are in my wallet. For long trips or track days it goes in the trailer as I cannot carry my LOx supply in the Caterham. Then I take along a small tool box and anything else that looks like it might be useful including jackstands, floor jack, kneeling pad an such. Plenty of room for all this in the camper shell on the back of the truck.

Just in time for the playoffs, I know you are all eager to know how they are made. Hint, it isn't from pigskin. http://www.reliableplant.com/View/21492/how-wilson-manufactures-nfl-game-footballs

So can I infer that the ZO6 has a single exhaust until the muffler? Won't work for my car as it has a 3" exhaust.
-
Wayne, What are the inlet and outlet diameters? Is the other one available, I'm assuming there are two of them, not a single muffler with 2 inlets and 2 outlets. Looking forward to pictures and your report.

Derek, Talk to Jeff, he cannot stay as long in Custer as Tom and I are planning, maybe he can ride back with you. I also have room for your extra luggage but no guarantee your beer will arrive intact.
