so i guess this means your not coming down to look at my deman sr7 i have for sale? congrats. nothing like a 7!
-
Driving on the right side must have altered your sense of direction, I'm west of Bowmanville...lol No more 7's for me. I found the one. Are you still looking?
-
congrats. Too bad about replies #2,3 and 5. Sure is nice to have all those positive comments when trying to sell something.

Only 1 wife and two small children. When opportunity knocks...........
-
hey kitcat, I've got you beat with 3 sevens! The latest being a Deman sr7 with busa power. I see no need for 3 so the 76 caterham and 1991 centaur are for sale. although it would be nice to keep a spare if the deman needed some work done to it.
-
I am also considering the dunlops. How is the gravel intake?
-
Sorry to hear that. Better safe than sorry. My Caterham will be up for sale shortly. Three sevens is two too many (not counting the locost frame and body work in the basement). Hoping to trade the centaur(green 7) for a Harley. Recently acquired Deman sr7 with hayabusa power and right hand drive.

early Caterham assembly info
trough doctor replied to Paul Hill's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I have a Caterham kit assembly manual dated 1990 no pictures and a few drawings that came with my 76 cat. (for sale soon, I now have 3, latest Hayabusa powered Deman sr7) You are welcome to come down and take a look and photocopy the manual if you like -
Its now in my garage along with the 76 caterham(soon to be for sale). The rotary powered 7 (for sale) was moved outside on the driveway and tarped. Picked it up and had delivered via flat bed on saturday. The engine and tranny are toast and will require a new(used) one. Will not be in a huge rush to find a replacement engine but will be on the lookout. Was contemplating a bec scratch build but with two small children and work it would be many years and countless hours on the internet before it was done. I had looked at this car when it was for sale a couple of years ago but was'nt able at the time to get close enough to thier asking price. It was owned by a lady in her late 40's! (i'm guessing) The deman is longer and wider than the cat, which is fairly easy to see. Once seated in the sr7 it feels more like a cadillac compared to the caterham. I am only 5' 6" and cannot see the left fender and the steering wheel feels a bit too far away when the seat is adjusted for my legs. Some padding for the seat will definately be on the to do list. Hopefully I will have it up and running before the snow flies.

Hi Ron, Derek with the 76 cat in oshawa here. What year was the kit manufactured? what year was the car first registered? Just because the ownership says 1973 does'nt mean thats the way customs will view it. Kit cars are often registered as the year of the model they are meant to resemble. You may need to prove that the car is atleast 15 yrs old. You would probably want/ need dmv records from 1996 or prior to ensure a smooth transfer. Especially considering the modern fuel injected engine. I know you have bought and imported cars before and are aware of the obstacles. I am probably a little more paranoid than most. Just thought I would mention it. BTW Great looking car and price!

Sorry to everyone who was planning on attending (ptrxly and twobone). I was still holding out hope that someone would want to take it over as i was in contact with mosport. Unfortunately at this point it seams highly unlikely. If some one wants to take it over the day will have to be transfered into their name. I am willing to fore go my $1400.00 deposit, as it seems I will lose it anyway. I do appologize for any plans or days booked off people may have made in anticipation of this event.

Canadian Spring - Got to love it?
trough doctor replied to twobone's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Congratulations twobone for being nominated ( by me) as the most psychotic seven owner in Canada. Its one thing to get caught in such weather, but to start out in these conditions nowing full well what lies ahead is quite another. Hats off to you for taking advantage of every opportunity to put some miles on your cat. How was the flea market? Did you buy anything? -
Sorry twobone, a local shop quoted me $125 plus taxes installed each. He also wasnt sure if he would still be able to get them. It seems you could probably save close to $100 on a set after installation if purchased online. I was looking at the 185 60's. I wanted to keep the same size on all four to allow me to rotate back to front. I am feerful a 205 tire will make the steering feel heavy and dull the overall quickness of the car.

Thanks for the kind words. Although this car is not as fast as my other 7 replica(being put up for sale soon), it handles better, has a nicer ride and makes a great sound. Not to mention rain gear and a windshield. I think the nieghbors like this one better too. I have some tiding up of the engine bay to do. Stay tuned for under bonnet pics. Even though I dont want a steady diet of sand and gravel, i think anything short of a dot r compound will be a disappointment. Is a 205 tire too much for the front of the car? what will i be giving up?

I too struggled with the rhd vs lhd question. I had a chance a little over a year ago to purchase my dream machine. It was a rhd Deman Motorsports sr7 with dedion rear and Hayabusa power. Shifted nice and smooth and seemed to have a clutch, unlike other bec's that was street friendly. Ultimately I decided against it mainly for the fact of reduced visability at an intersection when turning left. Most of my driving takes place in town and wanted as clear a view as possible. However, i did make a lowball offer, and if accepted would be in my garage now. I would have just taken the long way every where, avoiding the left turn. Another factor was my gimpy left shoulder being used for gear changes. This could have been overcome with the purchase of a paddle shifter kit. I would take the more powerful bumpier riding lhd Birkin and spend the difference on gas. If you want lhd and the exhaust on the passenger side you could buy my rotary powered seven replica.

Here are a couple of pics of my 1976 Caterham powered by lotus twin cam purchased in fall 2010. I posted pics of the car last fall but the car was dirty and appeared red in the photos. Ive used a polishing compound and swirl removal on the body. The wheels were sanded ( by hand) and painted. The rear fender guards were very grainy and were sanded (by hand). Decided not to go with a mirror finish as it did not seem to blend well with the rest of the car. I have changed the front and rear shocks with new caterham units. Will be looking for new rubber soon. If I go with dot r compounds(r888's) will the clam shells reduce or eliminate gravel in the cockpit? I am strongly considering the sumitomo htr 200 as they are around half the price and 2 pounds lighter. I would assume almost no sand blasting of fenders and cockpit form these tires?

Iput the $1500 deposit down in Feb to secure the June 13th date. The event will go rain or shine and there will be no refunds. I have decided on a field of 24 cars broken down into 3 groups of 8 cars. I would like to see as many spots as possible filled with 7 type cars. Confirmation of your participation is required by april 15th and payment recieved by the end of april to secure your spot. The fee will be $150 cdn. I f we end up with a field of 24 cars you will be reimbursed $25 on the day of the event. Please send me a pm if you would like to take part. I was hoping those in the gta or southern ontario could do a meet and greet and pay sometime from the middle to the end of april? Let me know what you think. Track day is also open to other cars. It will work on a first payed basis.

Although I have not driven or even been taken for a ride in one, my belief is it would be hard to beat the 911. As a father of 2 small children (2 wks and 3.5 yrs old), its the rear seats that are the kicker. Better to spend lots of time in a 911 than no time in a 7. I have a very understanding and easy going wife so can still go for quite a few runs in the 7, but she will not allow the boys in the car, and probably for good reason. The 911 could be driven every day and used for most family excursions. For those of us in northern climates you could find one with awd and drive it all year round. I may one day look at trading in the 7 for a 911. It just seems to do everything well.

Shipping from the UK - Any suggested Freight Carriers
trough doctor replied to Fimi 7's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I had a quote for 745 british pounds in february this year. This was for a completed 7 type car and shipped to Halifax Canada. There are other fees associated with this cost as well. I also had to get the car to the docks in england as well. I emailed a few companies and http://www.shipmycar.co.uk was the only one that responed, give them a try. -
Track Day June 13th, Ontario, Canada

For the entry of $100 we would need 30 cars. I am wondereing if it makes more sense to get 20 cars at $150. I have never driven the track and dont want it to be too crowded. Any thoughts on a good # of cars to sign up?
-
I would like to extend an invitation to all to attend a track day at Mosport International Raceway located in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. The event will take place on Monday June 13th at Mosports Driver Development Track. Entry should be around $100 depending on # of cars that show up. As I will be putting up my own money to secure this date will most likely require payment up front. Is this accepted procedure? I have never organized a trackday or even been to one, so not sure how this works. I live about 25 mins from the track on a half acre lot, so there is lots of room to pitch a tent and park your car if desired. Still waiting to hear back from mosport concerning some more particulars about the event. I will keep everyone posted as more details become available. I have also posted this in the Canada section. This is where additional info will be located and those wishing to attend should reply. I just posted here to make sure that everyone on usa7s was aware of the trackday, especially those of you south of the border.
-
I have confirmation of Monday June 13th. I have never been to a track day let alone organize one. I will keep everyone posted as more information becomes available. Like I said would like to attract as many 7's, lotus and british cars as possible. Having said that I will also need to fill the grid, so as the date draws nearer and still have spots open will have to extend invitation to other cars as well.

I love the stealth look! I got a quote to paint my centaur 7 (green car) in a base coat clear coat for 1200.00. Was from a guy who works out of his garage painting and fixing accident vehicles. He is located in Oshawa and I could give you his contact info. Or if you would like to come down and meet for a coffee I could take you there.
