  1. Looks like I'm late checking the parts for sale thread. Would be interested in both the seat and the cage if still available.
  2. If not sold I'd like to throw my hat in the ring. Do you know what width and what model it is? Needing a track daye seat for the Birkin I bought late fall. I'm in Oregon. 97045 area code if needed to figure shipping.
  3. When I bought my car remotely off a craigslist ad I was was fortunate enough to have a usa7s member, who lived near the car, volunteer to check it out for me. I realize you don't want to risk someone here sniping the car out from under you but if you let folks know the appropriate location you may find someone who can help. That or maybe have the owner take it to a repair shop or reputable used car lot in the area to have it inspected?

  5. I just found that my interruption of the political food fight was turned into it's own thread. Yay! I found information in other tire discussions about a new softer compound for the avons. There was an astounding video posted by a user of an HSR historics run in his 420r. Nearly all passes were under braking. With the light weight car he simply braked long after the opposing cars. Such fun. Anyway, he was a fan of the new soft compound. 033 if i remember right? With zzr tires and a moderate driver not looking to kill himself every time out should these last a full season or more if I'm doing 5-8 track days a year? Still debating the 13" vs 15" only because of cost. I have a bunch of light 15" wheels from my Miata that will fit my Birkin. 13" is the right choice but 15" is already on hand. Makes spending a few hundred more on avons vs other tires I'm looking at more palatable.
  6. My first thought on the tramlining was alignment. An agressive track set up will not work well on the street. Not sure if that's the problem but certainly something to look at. As far as dei, you know who doesn't seem to be complaining about asians losing out on university admissions? Asians. It's largely a talking point for anti dei white conservatives not a reality in university admissions. My snide comment is.... Heaven forbid the race of people who have clearly tipped the scales in their favor for 250 years might have to give up some small percentage of advantage in an attempt to help bring those suppressed for 15 generations up to speed. Racism blatantly exists even if you don't want folks to believe it. In policing, n the courts, in schooling and in opportunities. To blame a single parent culture is to blame the culture white folks created through slavery, jim crow, separate but obviously not equal and continued bias in many aspects of life. Sorry but couldn't disagree more on that topic. Didn't want to say anything but found I couldn't stay silent. This is why I'd much rather talk tires and track set up! Will move my tire talk to the appropriate thread and unfollow this one. The ideas presented are not fun or educational. There is enough discord in life I don't need to participate in it at a forum that's been an escape and community for me until this point. Have fun. I'm done.
  7. @Croc I'm in regular communication with George. Tracked him down after buying the car from the orthodontist he sold it to. He's sent me all sorts of history and albums of pics of the car. He definitely loved that car! I will ask him asap about what was needed to run 13s. My main thought on going with 15s is it gives me access to a much wider variety of both wheels and tires. Pretty much any wheel that fits a miata should work. Lots of relatively light and affordable options for 15" wheels. There's also a whole new crop of companies making dot approved track tires but often 15" is the smallest size they make. You pretty much have me convinced avon and 13" wheels are the way to go though. Feel is everything. I'm a decent driver, was typically in whatever the advanced group was back when I was a regular at hpde days, but I'm no pro. A communicative and forgiving tire, along with a definite sense of my own mortality, will go a long way in keeping me from stupid mistakes.
  8. @Crocwow! Amazing information. Traveling today, just boarded a plane, so it will take me a bit to respond properly. My car puts 187 to the rear wheels so is something like 215ish hp. George Hillard, the original owner, ran staggered 13" kodiaks with hoosiers so 13" should work. I do want a more forgiving breakaway than hoosiers likely offer. Have maybe 20 track days and a couple Lemons races under my belt. Track days were in my 250hp turbo'd Miata. Light for a road car but a pig compared to 7s. Will give your fantastically thorough response a proper go through and consideration when I have some down time over the next day. Thank you so much!
  9. I don't believe I said anything once things turned personal. I recall only posting my original comment which was not meant to be an attack or personal. I tried to simply point out a certain person is a controversial figure and much hated by many. I'm apologize if i did anything that may have been construed as a personal attack or endorsing such attacks!
  10. Thanks Bruce. As I was involved in the initial discord I was simply hoping to lighten the mood. Will look into avons! Wheel and tire sizes seem correct?
  11. Wanting a good honest tire that communicates well with good feedback. Apparently the zzs must not be it. I don't need a tire that's constantly whining and loves the wall! 🤣
  12. Admin note: The following posts were moved from within a thread in the Politics, Religion & Controversy subforum. As a result, some comments may not make sense as they reference posts in the original thread; however, this tangential conversation is good content worth exposing in the proper subforum. -JohnCh Maybe a return to what we all have in common, a love for 7s and helping others is what's needed here? 😉 Needing track wheels and tires for my beautiful Birkin. I'm thinking 15" as there's a wider variety of both wheels and tires available. Thinking 7" and 195 in front. 9" and 225 in the rear. Seems to be a popular stagger of sizes. Open to suggestions if you think differently! For tires, communication, feel and reasonable durability are priorities, not needing the fastest possible tire. Any suggestions? There's so many more manufacturers and models than when i was doing a lot track days 10-15 years ago.
  13. To much of the membership here, myself included, calling Croc Trump is about as big an insult to Croc as you can get. It's hard to imagine a more polarizing or controversial person you could have used where Croc is universally loved and appreciated! I believe politics and religion don't belong in most threads. Only sows discord among the ranks!
  14. As a happy Croc customer I can't say thank you enough! Epic undertaking and amazing long term work on his part. 🙏
  15. Seems like a screaming deal for anyone wanting a track only toy. I too am surprised at that price considering the many high end components rhat went into it.
  16. That "morgan-ish" thing for well over what I paid for my gorgeous Birkin? I think not.
  17. That prototype mark vi is gorgeous. What a piece of history. Substantial money but for the rarity and history the estimated price range seems reasonable. Love the positive camber! 🤣
  18. I personally can't stand dealerships that do not publish prices. Never trust that the price I'm told is the same price given to the next guy.
  19. Sounds like I may have to try an aeroscreen!
  20. Really not interested in wearing a helmet on the street. Is there other less intrusive protection folks use with Brooklands or aero screens?
  21. Definitely not looking for zero buffeting in an open car but it is definitely an uncomfortable (and potentially harmful to your hearing) level at freeway speeds. Drove an early Miata for many years. Would love to figure how to drop it to that level of an open air experience!

  23. Best of luck. Looks like a fun track! What do you have there to drive on it?
  24. Croc, just don't look at Caterham prices while you're there. Drives me nuts how much more expensive used Cats are in the USA vs UK Have fun! Post some driving vids and pics!
