I have the same aluminum jack as harbor freight sells, don't remember the "Brand Name" but identical, only bought through Kragen. My big old Heim-Warner steel jack (30 years and still working fine) wouldn't roll under the S2K so had to get something quick without checking it out. Only problem I have with it is that the handle is on a spring that won't let you leave it "down" so if you want to move it while in use you have to "pump up". With the handle "up" it's hard to control the release valve so you are apt to drop really fast. Also, short lift, if your doing anything other than changing tires you can't even get it high enough to put in full sized jack stands if they are past the first riser notch. "Roller" front is also a little less conveinent than having caster front wheels. Shop around because the "same" jack does sell for a big pricing spead.

Thanks for the lead Frankn7" but 1"X1" is a bit small for filling the space where a couple of screws were. Maybe I'll go for one of the "Lotus 7 badges". Good idea about getting it done at a local shop too. Thanks all.

I have been looking for a shift pattern plaque for the Honda S2000 transmission in my S2K. Found a gazillion shift knobs and lots of plaques with the wrong reverse location (they all seem to be "up"). I have seen these before but now can't find that site again. Any body have a link??

First thing I would do is take off the rear view mirrors so I wouldn't have to see anything from the windshield back when I was in it.

I went through two sets of the 615's on my '04 MINI Cooper S, just using them for track days only, not for the street. I only had a problem with them getting greasy when it was pushing or past 100 degrees at Thunderhill. Good feel at turn in and lots of room to push them in the corners without any quick surprises and this is on a front wheel drive car. Wilwoods all around and they were great for breaking, lots of pedal pressure before the anti-lock kicked in. Not going to beat a race compound for traction but each set lasted a full season without cording, seemed to just stop wearing about the time the bars got close to the tread, without feeling to be overly heat cycled. I was happy with them as a great value for the use I got out of them. Especially since I had gone through a complete set of new F1-D3 #1 rated Extreme summer use street tires in two track sessions the year before, and those cost a whole lot more and didn't stick as well until I was close to not getting past safety inspection with them.

Good to get an opinion from someone with a "7" in both street and track use. From what I've seen in the various post going quite a ways back the tires on 7's are usually heat cycled or age hardened way before they are used up. Unlike the post on the tire sales sites reviews where most of the comments about "soft" or "R" are about cording in one track session. LOL. I guess we should be happy to have them last that long. There are a lot of comments about the R888's, most of them good. Thanks again.

Waiting on the wheels to get made and shipped before I can tell you if I like them. LOL. Sure hope I do because they are bought and paid for. It might have been you who suggested them to me a couple of months back. Basically just waiting on the wheels and deciding on a set of tires now. Been doing quite a bit of deconstruct/reconstruct on the car and actually have at least 75% of the rattles out and built a whole new pedal assembly that moves the pedals "left" so i can move them forward and still fit my foot between the right bulkhead and the brake pedal. Even with that had to shave the pedal edge a bit and sculpt the bottom right edge of the brake pedal a bit. Boy, what do the size 13 shoe guys do? When I get the wheels I'll give you an update. Thanks, Jim R.

Already discounted the Hoosiers before starting my search as I already knew they were too light to handle any street use. I had talked with a local tire distributor about using "race" tires on the street, mostly discussing the car weight of about 1,400 lbs and limited street driving. He had mentioned that all manufactures of "racing" tires don't consider the tires as "for street use" but all were basing the use limits on everything that the tire might fit on, like a car at twice my weight. He also didn't think anything less than a 40 series or taller was a good idea if it was going to see any highway use. I'll look into the tires you noted (actually was already looking at the Nittos) and see if anyone else has any feedback. Thanks, Jim R.

Thanks for the info on finding the link, don't know how I missed it since it is obvious once it's pointed out. (kind of like the best line through 14 at ThunderHill, OH!That's it. LOL) If paypal is not telling me fibs I'm a paid member now.

Was a real problem finding wide (8"-9") wheels with the right offset and bolt pattern. I'm going to make one set of wheels and tires work for track and street, thus the need for a DOT rating. I'd be way more interested in a good used set of wide rims than tires but if the rims come up maybe the tires will work. What do you have? I presume Hoosiers if it's going to require trailering.

Have my Team Dynamics 8" & 9" X 17" wheels ordered from Team Illuminata Motorsports and now deciding on what to skin them with. Got my SB100 "Kit Car" registration number so my WCM S2K will actually get a plate and see some street time, but it's mostly going to be used for track days. I'm one of those "spoiled" Californa drivers who don't have to think about standing water or really cold weather so lack of rain dispersing tread grooves isn't a concern. "Tread life" is only a concern if someone has had a real problem with a set of the ones listed below. I'd rather buy a new set because they were worn out than because they were getting hard. Hoosiers are not DOT legal (and I've heard that even on an Ultralite they go away faster than government bail out money) so only good for comparison of grip. Looking at three basic "DOT Slicks". Hankook Z214 in the softer C71 compound, B.F.Goodrich G-Force R1 and Toyo Proxes R888. G-Force and R-88's are available in the 235-40-ZR17 and 275-40-ZR17 size and the Hankooks in 245-40-ZR17 and 275-40-ZR17 that will fit my wheels and should fit in the fenders. I know that tires are kind of "personal preference" items but there is usually something to be gained from having information from people who have "like" rides. Reviews from racers on how they worked on their super modified 6 series BMW or front wheel drive rice rocket is going to be totally off base for a 7 clone. I've got time to decide because the wheels are months out and I found all three tires listed above "in stock" and expect they will be available till at least most of that mid-west / northeast snow melts and you hard core drivers come out of hibernation. LOL Thanks for any comments, Jim Rankin

Is there a link to join this group as a paid member? I've already received a lot of help from members and would like to help support the group.

I was at the CA DMV bright and early (5:30AM) on Monday morning to get in line for an SB100 registration number for my WCM S2K. Could have slept in and had breakfast too and still not had a problem. At the friendly Los Gatos DMV the line is usually a "kit car gathering of the masses" but this year the entire turn out was three of us. No problem dialing through to Sacramento and when we three left there were no more applicants to be processed. The very helpful clerk said she had never seen a turn out this small and had thought that last years waiting line at opening of only about twenty "kit car nuts" was a fluke. Both of the other applicants (a Cobra and a 505 Speedster) had purchased partially completed cars that the original builders had decided not to spend the money to finish. Looks like the economy, at least here in the SF Bay Area, has decimated the ranks of local kit car builders. It would be interesting to know what happened at the DMV's elsewhere in the state.

Just saw that you have a 4X100, My stuff is 5X100, sorry.

I have a set of wheels (motegi)and tires(Dunlop Direzza) that came on an S2K I bought. I am looking for something that I can use for both street and track but if your going for a set for each these might be in OK.

West Texas confirmed he has never been even semi-normal but I had that figured out by reading some of the older post on this board. Looks like NO ONE on this site is anywhere near normal, my kind of place!! Anyway, some info. Team Dynamics confirmed that the post saying they had 9.5" wheels available is in error. 9" is it. They also confirmed that they had no wheels at 17" X 9" X 45 offset in stock and had no castings to make them out of. Allow about 3-4 months till being supplied again. WCM confirmed that there is no way to put on 5X114 hubs as a retrofit. Need to have everything from the drive shaft back from one subbie or the other. Guess I'll order and wait. Gonna run a pool on who visits first, UPS (with my wheels) or the USPS (with birthday cards, 2-11). Thanks again for all the poster who have been guiding me through the start of what seems like it's going to be a long learning curve.

Rumor has it that you were semi-normal before you went off your meds and got a seven........LOL

The wheels look good on your car with the black offsetting the Green. If I buy a set does it mean I have to purchase a supercharger too. LOL

Pricing is really reasonable for the quality. Not sure just how big you can go tire-wise and stay within the S2K's rear fenders. See several 275 photos and it looks like there is still plenty of room. Also want to hear from the factory if there is a 9.5 available as I know that there are several 10" rims being run by the lucky few who knew better and ran 114 hubs and they seem to fit without a problem. Anyone have pictures of the TD 1.2 wheels on their car? I'm going to have to go look through the members rides section and get a peak at who has what on their cars and hoe it looks.

Did you get a price from Team Dynamics US for a set of wheels? Probably the same size as I'm looking for. Still not received a return email from them and called but got the lady on the answering machine both times.

My mistake was going to the DMV and asking them what to do, and getting someone who started this all wrong. Had heard of the SB100 and asked when I went in but when I handed over all of the paperwork to start getting the car in my name they just went with "it's a used car from Washington", took my 4K in tax and registration money and told me to bring the car in for an "inspection". Trailered the car to them and when the "inspector" could not find a VIN# I checked with the seller in WA and he said that their DMV never even wanted to see the car and the only place the VIN# was ever used was on the Title and Registration papers. They had me get a statement from WCM that no VIN# was installed at the "factory" and confirmed that WA did not install one on the car. I was sent off to the CHP with all my paperwork. The CHP were great, loved the car, and even had me choose where to install the two new Special Construction VIN# plates. Unfortunately they also gave me some misinformation by telling me that the CARB referee could visually inspect the car and do a tailpipe smog as long as i made sure the DMV used the motor year, '06, on my new title and not the '08 from the WA title. Back to the DMV who sent me off to CARB who told me the DMV was basically smoking crack and to go in and register for SB100. I've been so busy with other projects and business that the car sitting in the trailer in my warehouse hasn't been a big issue. I had expected that anything with the DMV would be more difficult than buying a stolen nuclear weapon so it's no big surprise that I'm where I'm at. If I'm at the DMV with all my paperwork before dawn on Jan. 2nd and don't get an SB100 I think I'll sell the car rather than warehouse it for another year. the only restriction will be that it goes out of CA because I sure don't want them making another 4K off of just screwing with people. If they really wanted to clean up the air in CA they would just start making passes through parts of any major city and pull all of the daily driven unregistered smog spewing junk off the road.

I have been trying to get my S2K registered and have run into the usual problems. When I was at the Smog Ref. (CARB) where the DMV had sent me, and turned down, he mentioned that a really large number of the 500 SB100 slots were not claimed last year. I went back to the DMV and did my wait and finally was sent to a clerk who did not even know what SB100 was and told me to "go get a smog check and come back". I made her get a supervisor who was very familar with SB100, calling it "kit car day" and didn't sound like she thought much of it. She told me that it was a ONE DAY ONLY opening and even if they were not all claimed they were only issued on the first business day of the year! She also said be first in line because they will no longer just keep re-dialing for Sacramento if the office gets busy. I can see the limit of 500 to get the bill passed, but why just one day, especially with the furlough days it is alway "busy" at the DMV. Does anyone have any experience with the "one day only" rule?
-
CA dist. said no 9.5" wheels but don't know if he knows for a fact that that is so. Didn't say anything about what he had in stock. But if I'm waiting and they are actually made I'll go with the 9.5" rears. Sure don't want to try to track with the skinny wheels I have on now, even if they are light and have new tires on, just too little of a contact patch.

Got a return email from the USA team dynamics distributor. Just asked what color I wanted but didn't address any questions. Think he only saw the "form" with room for one size only and not the email about staggered fitment and was a 9.5" wheel available Sent him a reply so see what hapens tomorrow.

I'd take in one of your wheels and stand it about eight feet away from the DPT and see if the difference jumps out at you, presuming you have access to a DPT. I like the look of your current wheels better, but I'm more into "plain" lower count spoke wheels. I'm not real big on the look of the Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 but sent them an email about size (checking to see if the 9.5" is actualy available) and fitment. Sent them an email when the link first came up on this thread and didn't hear back so hoping for better luck this time. What a difference wheel shopping is for this car than past ones where my "problem" has been picking from so big a list it was hard to decide.
