The "Bobby Car" is a German Classic. I still have the one in the attic that my son used when he was 2 years old (22 years ago:rolleyes:). But the TV guys' performance was pitiful with these racers. The speed record is apparently 108 km/h. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5c/Bobbycar.jpg/300px-Bobbycar.jpg

Comments were a bit silly at times but that is probably the nature of TV entertainment. They did mention for the Miata 3.0 kg/hp, for the Caterham 2.9 and for the Atom 2.0. Obviously an R500 would have been the better comparison. They did not mention any differences in road behavior other than acceleration. I must admit if I tried to drive like that on an icy/wet road I would end up in the ditch in a hurry. But wait, now I remember I did try at Infineon several years ago in the rain and and yes, I ended up in the ditch.

So did Santa get you anything for your 7?

A long overdue spa treatment with washing and grooming and a voucher (well, a promise) of a thorough polish before the next summer tour. -
Hey, the fading memory gives you away :jester: as you say, too many an evening..... Anyway, this fractal rendering was done with UltraFractal software, but I did not save the file and I am embarrassed to say I forgot which fractal formula I adopted. I only remember vaguely that I used the "Direct Orbit Traps" coloring algorithm with the "Image Trap" plugin. See, there is some fading memory.... But, since it seems to recall pleasant memories of ancient history, here is another one of Herb's Birkin on the Black Hills tour (well, actually while being repaired...):

Sorry to report that my Seven has been badly neglected since summer. The broken front wing is not fixed yet and to not look stupid I removed the other one too (for now). But this weekend I finally got around to wash off the precious South Dakota and Wyoming dirt and bugs, at least. Major reason for the neglect was a build project for a CNC machine (I follow in Mazda's footsteps here). I can not drive that thing but a lot of fun anyway and I promise to repair my Seven for the next trip. http://youtu.be/HsAlAmrAPUg

I want to have an infinite number of sevens.......:blueangel:

Careful, I got a Trojan Horse warning when I clicked the link....

If you still have the original Birkin starter motor (from an obscure South African car model) that is totally normal. It is just weak, especially when running higher compression and really weak when hot and it seems to get worse over time. I tried to fix that for several years and got many embarrassing push starts until I gave in and bought the Gustafson reduction starter. Never had trouble since.

As mentioned we were late and missed the best part of the event, most folks were already packing up. For the little Honda it definitely looked like a bike engine.

We went to the SCTA speed trials at El Mirage Dry Lake. Arrived a bit late today so we only got a glimpse of the last 2 runs (nuts....). But it was a nice trip anyway. Through some snow on Angeles Crest Highway (35 degrees) and lots of flying gravel to the Mohave desert. I took some pictures of the strange scenery and the weird vehicles (at the least the ones that were still there). Never mind the missing wings and overall ratty look of my car. There is still South Dakota dirt on it from the summer trip.

For that bit of extra boost to pass the V8s on the track

Would that comply with California emission laws :jester: -
I have a Fuel Safe cell in the car for maybe 6 years and no problems. This is one of the special builds for MSI as Birkin drop-in replacement that retains the rear filler cap. I.e. the outer dimensions are identical to the stock tank. No problem with the foam and E10 so far (maybe I should not have said that...) but I have a tiny pinhole for years already that dribbles when the cell is very full. Not sure which model you got but since MSI does not do Se7ens anymore I guess Fuel Safe would sell direct. That said, the price is absurd nowadays. BTW, I am in Pasadena, too. some pictures

100 pounds of thrust...oh well. Probably good enough for the bicycle. -
I wear earplugs anyway. With good quality ones (30dB or better) the exhaust noise does not really matter anymore.

All a matter of education (or me playing it too often)....although mostly not his favorite music, my son (23) knows the artists of my 60s and 70s collection usually better than I do. Now, does this get him a decent job? Heck no.

Just noticed, this has been the most active thread on this forum behind the Stickies and the "Best Picture" thread in General Discussions. :hurray:

Well, I have done a lot of mapping but it was mostly on my own Emerald ECU. If this is an older Emerald it may or may not have the external sensor for barometric compensation. A vist to a (qualified) dyno shop will pay for sure if you can find one. If not you can buy a wideband probe/instrument (I got this one for 200 bucks) and watch it while driving or even better connect the output to the Emerald and log the behavior with a laptop. But the latter gets a bit more involved with soldering etc. You can do some iterative tweaking with this information or if it is too bad go to a dyno shop anyway.

I had plans but can not make it that weekend.

Same experience. I covered the entire painted surface with film (no matter the brand name apparently it all comes from 3M) and it does protect quite well but it is not good enough for the blasted areas of the rear wings. Steel sheet or carbon fiber sheet are needed but even those won't last forever. Rhino liner or a solid rubber sheet are better (I did the latter). In the other areas I have already 2 small spots gouged out of the paint protection film. But then, without the film it would probably be worse.

Psychiatry in general. Especially dealing with severe delusions and complete disregard of facts.

Sorry to hear about your back problem. Before you sell, you may try a more comfy seat. The stock Birkin jobs of that vintage are not exactly renowned for ergonomics. I can sit in my Birkin all day (have Cobra seats) and feel more relaxed than in my Honda or Hyundai tintops. That said, if your problem is just getting in and out there is little you can do about it. Good luck either way.

Good question. I transferred 401 already in February to a "Stable Value" fund when I got nervous. Missed out on a temporary gain in the meantime but also on the huge drop. But I would really like to get back in the game I was wondering about an automated strategy to buy 10% of my portfolio every time one of my funds loses 10% and sell accordingly when it gains. But that would be too easy and I bet somebody tried that before and it does not work :jester: I just don't have the patience to watch all that shit all the time. Can somebody just give me the money, please?

I know....it is not politically correct. But remembering the enormous number of trikes we have seen in the Black Hills I found this funny: http://forums.delphiforums.com/n/docs/docDownload.ashx?guid=3581F8B6-D85A-455E-A141-987CBF0632DB&webtag=sgmfa

That is indeed effective, cheap and lighter than a sender and gage But the gage being off is not really an serious issue for me (as long as I know how much). I mentioned the surprising effect mainly out of scientific interest.
