  1. That Morris Convertible was my first car at age 16 and my introduction to Lucas electrics. What an education!
  2. Jon with Atom Smasher got there late, but got lots of attention. When asked questions he usually quipped, "Its all on the website". OK. Thanks
  3. Steve here (Ruadhd2). Thanks very much to Mazda and Scott for shepherding me to Carlisle in my tired Rotus. I got the mechanicals and eletricals in o.k. shape and was able to motor to the show without a problem. Great to meet the old timers. People were mostly taking pictures of the Superlite and Croc's Caterham and an MG TF. I resorted to offering to pay people 50 cent to take pictures of my car. No, seriously, people actually did take unpaid pictures of it to enter into the Ugly Betty Car Photo Contest. So here are some car pics. Most are kits, but I took some nostalgia pics from the import areas: http://picasaweb.google.com/drsms22/Carlisle2010?authkey=Gv1sRgCIPX__GlqJa6Bg# Hope this link works.
  4. Looking at what's available in 17 inch width.
  5. I am braving it with wet weather gear if it rains. Not the tightest seams on the top in automotive history.
  6. Is there still a meetup place for DC metro folks going? I have rain gear and plan to drive the project as best as I can.
  7. Or just leave it there for a few days.
  8. Crash cymbal and rimshot please
  9. If I ever get them off I'll change them out for thinner lugs.
  10. Need a jack handle to fit over this larger lug top and fit between it and the tiny space around the lug opening. Any recommendations? None of the sizes on a regular 3-sided jack handle won't work.
  11. I just sold a 1993 M3 convertible with that color. Very elegant.Think I'm going to paint my Rotus that color. Thanks for sharing. It confirms the idea.
  12. I think I spoke to someone in the group. Is there a list? Any more Rotuses (Roti)?
  13. sale-hehwf-1721363644@craigslist.org
  14. Does anyone recognize this frame and suspension?
  15. OOOOps. May have accidentally double posted. sorry
  16. I am Stephan "Steve" Silverman. I am a clincal psychologist who is retired after a 30 year career with a school system, and I manage a small private practice of psychologists and do public speaking on Asperger's syndrome, ADHD, and Meditation. I am also a professional jazz drummer and play in groups around the Washington,DC metro area. I fell in love with Lotus 7's when in my early twenties watching them pass Ferraris at Marlboro Raceway in Maryland. Everyone was rooting for the Lotuses and they often won. My other favorite car was the MG-TF. I have owned over 45 cars. My dad, who recently passed, owned more than 75 cars, but rarely at the same time. I generally keep a car less than two years, except for the family SUV. My daily driver is a 2001 BMW M3 convertible. When I bought the Rotus I had no idea what a project was in my future. I love driving the car, but it is very much a hung-together rattle trap at this point. Fortunately, my brother is an engineer and has built a Factory Five Cobra Daytona coupe and helps me a lot. Other forum members have been very helpful in my initiation to the world of 7's, especially Rob Mitchell. Looking forward to the journey. Steve

  19. Trying to make it in the currently rough Rotus project.
  20. Great confirmation of an idea. Will do that. Thanks, Steve
  21. I'll buy them from you as backups or maybe find a trade deal. Probably just do cash. Why you gettin rid of them. What about open top driving on windy days? steve
  22. Looking to talk to another Rotus owner who has a "factory" top. How dumb a design can you get? The top frame members don't fit in the boot. If you want to stick your top in the boot for a possible rainy day you will have to stuff the aluminum top members in the passenger seat or cut them in half or something. How have you dealt with it? Thinking of cutting them in half and using a dowel to stick inside them when erecting the top, otherwise the top stays home and we pray for no rain. Solutions?
  23. What Rob? They didn't invite you to show your car?
  24. The Rotus has 4 inches more width than the Caterham. The actual seat width, though, is 17 inches. Are there any other suggestions for seating? The original Rotus seats have individual bottoms with a shared bench back. They are cool looking, but they do not offer whiplash protection and are probably not the best track seats. Other reasonably priced options?
