  1. Pretty nice - I think that would be most peoples dream garage give or take one or two choices. My house costs less than some of those cars. I have a nice house too.
  2. ++1 - Thank you for taking your time to update this thread. Very informative
  3. I have been off this sight for quite a bit and decided not to build / purchase a vehicle of similar design. Explained below after losing the latest friend of 40+ years – Gentlemen – It is not a question of if your going to crash. The questions is WHEN. Motorcycles are fantastic but when my 3rd friend was killed many, many years ago, I don’t ride motorcycles any more. The latest friend killed several years ago in a 357 Porsche Replica – Got his Head Ground down & cut off when it flipped on the street - No roll protection event though I kept harassing him. I checked the crash sight, saw his head skid marks and analyzed the available data. He Just made a mistake in the wrong spot -1 in a 1,000,000,000. I went to the coroners office to identify the body to save his Fiancé (Going to be married in 3 weeks) and son (20s) from doing it. I identified him by his ring, clothes he was wearing and body shape. Not much left above the shoulders. I love formula type cars – The newer cars are much safer but I don’t get in them now. My mistake, someone else - Who knows – I stile suffer the consequences. I could be killed doing what I love - My choice I don’t have kids – BUT - Maybe I live and am worse off than being dead. I don’t run anything, anymore without a crush zone and proper safety equipment. Nothing gives the adrenaline rush of a motorcycle or open wheeled vehicle but I don’t heal as well as I use to. All my Cadaver Donor Parts, Titanium, ECT do not work as well as the originals. We have one life & one body treat it well. I’m glad the OP is healing. Consider it a cheap learning experience. It could have been worse. Big slicks, big aero & brakes put the joint that failed under extreme stress. All of the welds should be checked for fatigue after each event. Hard to do with paint or worse – Power coating concealing the joint. I do hope you have a speedy recovery Free Advise is what you pay for it.
  4. We met briefly at Button Willow 7/27/14 – I was wondering if you were going to attend Button Willow 9/21/14? Different configuration 15CCW. I’m located in the Los Angeles area and would very much like to see your Stalker again – Beautifully prepped by the way.
  5. EAT ME - -------------- (LOL) Life is good Life is very good
  6. Meeeeee TOOOOOOO - I have several pieces of equipment but finding the time to utilize them on my own projects is my main problem. Unfortunately, nothing even close to HOTTCAR (NICE) (Almost 52) – I’m stile just a pup – At least I keep telling myself that
  7. For lots of metal fabrication - Epoxy isn't a good idea. It burns & metal chips get imbedded into the epoxy. Polished concrete is very nice & easy to clean. But gets damaged also. If you pour a floor, you can have the concrete Just about any color you want & then polish it - Beautiful & relatively durable
  8. We have quite a few small airports in Middle to Southern parts of California that hangars are quite cheap to lease / rent. The only problem is the waiting list. This can be circumvented with a side $$$ deal which would pay for itself within 4- 5 years. Typical hangar $600.00 to $800.00 for 2500 + sq. ft. I probably shouldn’t post this because I will let the cat out of the bag
  9. Agree 100% - I'm stile trying to sort out my life but at soon to be 52, I was hopping to be a quite bit farther along with the $$$$$$$$. :nopity: Poor investments & expensive 1st wife (Nobodies fault but mine) Stile - A relatively cheap learning curve - I sure hope I learned! In the next 30+ years, I'm hopping to have much more room to expand in real-estate & toy department. Time will tell. If I were stile single I would move into a garage like that or an airplane hangar.
  10. VERY Nice but your garage is bigger than my House.
  11. Looks good to me but WHERE are the women? Did they escape?
  12. Just re-read my post from 1/1/13 & what I intended to say was I wound not purchase exterior ceramic coatings for heat retention. Use thermal wrap for best results - For visual appeal, ceramic coating is hard to beat. I have used their 2000 & 1300 for different application both looked very nice & held up well. Jet Hot has a new 2500 which is suppose to be much more heat resistant than the 2000. The 1300 was applied to my headers on my SCCA D spec Lotus Cortina & held up exceedingly well under racing conditions. Jet hot had just come out with the product at that time. The 2000 on my FD3 RX7 - 430RWHP - 2800LBs with me in it beat to death with 1900 degree exterior exhaust manifold temps measured with a calibrated Fluke infrared lazar. (That was the exterior Jet hot 2000 temps before I wrapped them.) Many similar results with acquaintance tests. I have also used & have had acquaintances use Swain Tec coatings - piston side skirt & crown application. Timing had to be reduced on some engines with top piston coating. Skirts held up well even though I don’t think it’s necessary. 13B rotor faces coated also but water injection would steam off the coating. Had to reduce timing also on the engine. Hope this helps - Stile looking for Asbestos wrap if anyone has a source. P.S. - Recommended after New Years overindulgence. Next morning (Ramos Fizz) I think that is spelled correctly - Grand Mother’s recomendation & used for generations - mine being the third. 6 oz Jin 6 oz 1/2 & 1/2 or whipping cream 6 oz Frozen concentrate lemon Aid - I don’t remember which kind but I remember what the can looks like 6 Ice cubes Blend in blender Add or subtract condense per self preference.
  13. Jet hot, one of the most commonly known, or other types of commonly available ceramic coatings will not insulate enough to protect your alternator from heat in this application. I Jet hot coated my 316 stainless header leading up to my single turbo 13B. Jethot used black 2000 exterior & an interior coating which I don’t know what. (Temps up to 1900F during dyno runs) The interior stated to flake in about 3 hours of total run time - that included break-in. It damaged my exhaust turbine blade beyond repair. I scrapped my manifold - couldn’t get the stuff out & made a new manifold. I had the exterior of my new manifold coated with 2000. I didn’t have to pay for the coatings & If I did, I would. I only used wrap. (Wrap is so much better as an insulator) The Jethot 2000 was wrapped with ceramic type tape & held up very well - looked acceptable even when re-wrapped couple of times. If you wrap, - Stainless steel only - preferable 316 - to last for a while or thicker 304 for commonly available Stainless. Carbon steel doesn’t seem to take the heat & breaks down faster. 1/8” is too close for anything other than wrap but if you modify the header tube, use a heat sheild. Heat shielding should sandwich a heat barrier cloth fabric for best results 2 + layers if possible - asbestos preferred but getting hard to obtain. If you used real asbestos wrap, I would be interested in purchasing some - most sources I know have dried up. Link below might help for shielding material. http://www.heatshieldproducts.com/productdetail/exhaust-wrap-and-header-heat-wrap/lava-wrap/37/19
