  1. The Goodridge hoses are great too. Either off the shelf or get them made. Not sure where in NJ as I used to live a few miles from their factory in the UK so had flexible hoses throughout the car. Looked great and totally reliable. I believe they do coloured stainless too! Most F1 cars use Goodridge hoses.
  2. The CVH engine was used in FWD escorts and possibly Fiesta in the UK. 130bhp seems optimistic to be honest and not a very tunable unit.
  3. http://www.tvrccna.org/userfiles/WOODWORKFLYER2011.pdf Details here for an event in NJ. May go Saturday. Anyone else planning?
  4. Upgrading to the Outlaw M-16 would be great although I guess that also means upgrading the Master Cylinder. Been through some of that pain before on a Westfield. Te results was great after I also replaced the pedal box to change the brake force ratios. Solid as a rock! This time looking for a simple fix - although still tempted by the Outlaws....
  5. I knew this was a stupid question. Should have kept it to myself as further investigation came across the answer (I think). Triumph Spitfire Mk IV Type 14 calipers and pretty cheap too. New both sides I think. BTW. Posting a question and providing the answer yourself is surely a sign of madness!
  6. Another thought .... Aren't they Triumph Spitfire calipers? They have the hose fitting on the side rather than end ... Sorry for the probably stupid questions.
  7. I have a sticky piston on one of the front brake calipers which is the standard Caterham S3 type. Having looked at replacement, is the 'standard' M-16 caliper the same fitment as the Caterham one? The body looks slightly different but I seem to think that they are the same. The Caterham caliper is significantly more expensive. Not planning a major brake upgrade just now so need an easy fix. Thanks
  8. I know it is obvious but I guess your throttle linkage is OK and the butterflies are opening fully? Do you have a rev limiter fitted that could have self-adjusted itself? Other than the usual, valve timing seems a possibility.
  9. Thanks. Consider them binned.
  10. My caterham has guards inside the front brake discs. Previous seven did not have them and I see no value in keeping them - add weight, somewhere to trap dirt and stones and they dont look great. Anybody see reason to keep them?
  11. ...and I have another set of track wheels and tyres so ready to go!
  12. Yep. I have noted the upcoming event but probably back in the UK on business. I need to get out as it has been over a year since my last track excursion!
  13. Just the one pic for now.
  14. After sleepless nights, LOTS of reading, paperwork and waiting at the DMV, I now have my Caterham titled and on the road in NJ. I opted to go the historic route and proved to be the right approach. Luckily the car had a good title, the right age and sailed through the title and registration. No need for any inspection either. Yes, I will post some pics! It can be done. :hurray:
  15. If on Dellorto carbs it could also be the progression holes. Possibly blocked or if not, one may need to be. Had a similar issues solved with a dab or araldite in one of the holes. As two bone says though, just where it passes from idle to main. Cleaning everything is a good place to start.
  16. I know why you say that but it was a '82 911.
  17. Sykesville MD area yesterday. Nice day for it ...
  18. I spent some time looking at whether I could import my 1990 Westfield and decided it was not worth the effort. However, had it been 25 years old, I would have tried. I also looked at importing for track/racing use only but unless the car was built as a racecar and has a manufacturer certificate that says so, that was a no-go too. Best of luck and please post your progress and we will offer up as much advice as we can. Just about to title and register my Seven in NJ so will post the gory details of that in a week or so. PS: Love the car, looks great!
  19. Attaching the mike inside clothing would certainly isolate it from all (external) noises. Not tried it but will have to now.
  20. For me. I prefer Minilites every time and like the green and gold contrast. Looks nice.
  21. Straight cut gears and very noisy in any gear other than 4th. Went pretty well with an all steel full race Crossflow that revved to 9k. Lovely! Looking forward to Caterham in a couple of weeks. Can't wait now!
  22. Dont ask me why but this what I used to do with my Westfield before coming to my senses and moving to the US. Miss it though! Turn off the sound though as it is pretty poor. [/url] Google Wiscombe Hillclimb for some hairy videos!
  23. Sprint and Hillclimb classes in the UK do in fact take account of Sevens, Caterhams, Westfields etc and the classes work out pretty fairly in most cases allowing stock road Sevens ample opportunity to be competitive in varying weather conditions - the less modified cars do better in the rain! The classes for the majority of the events are this and there are 5 highlighted classes exclusively for Sevens and similar cars: A1. Road going Series Production Cars up to 1400cc A2. Road going Series Production Cars over 1400cc and up to 1800cc A3. Road going Series Production Cars over 1800cc and up to 2600cc A4. Road going Series Production Cars over 2600cc B1. Road going Specialist Production Cars. Car engines up to 1400cc & M/c engines up to 875cc. B2. Road going Specialist Production Cars. Car engines over 1400cc up to 1800cc & M/c engines up to 1125cc. B3. Road going Specialist Production Cars. Car engines over 1800cc and M/c Engines over 1125cc. C1. Modified Limited Production Cars up to 1400cc C2. Modified Limited Production Cars over 1400cc up to 1800cc C3. Modified Limited Production Cars over 1800cc up to 2600cc C4 Modified Limited Production Cars over 2600cc C5 Modified Specialist Production Cars. Car engines up to 1800cc & M/c engines up to 1125cc C6. Modified Specialist Production Cars. Car engines over 1800cc & M/c engines over 1125cc. D1. Sports Libre Cars up to 1800cc D2. Sports Libre Cars over 1800cc D3 Rally Cars up to 1600cc D4. Rally Cars over 1600cc E1. Racing cars up to 1100cc E2. Racing cars over 1100cc and up to 1600cc E3. Racing Cars over 1600cc up to 2000cc E4. Racing Cars over 2000cc The primary difference in the Road Going and Modified classes is that Rioad Going must be road legal on street tyres and Modified is generally slicks and wings. In 9 years of competition in these classes, I have never known any particular issues. Maybe the SCCA should look further afield for inspiration. Sevens make great Autocross cars and diversity dhould be encouraged. BTW. I figured out once that minute for minute Sprint/Autocross events cost more than running a car at Le Mans!
  24. In the UK I replaced Yokohama 048s with Toyo R888 and they were great. There they ar available in two compounds, the GG or SG. SG being softer and warms quickly. I ran a set for two seasons on a hillclimb Seven and even on a 45 second run, they got pretty warm and you could drive confidently from cold.
  25. I'll be there with Cristina. Most probably we'll roll up for lunch and a beer. Guess you'll be back around 12.30?
