A small but enthusiastic group showed up on this beautiful day. Good variety - a Lamborghini, an Audi R8 Spyder, a Shelby Mustang, etc., etc... --Bob Collum

2017 Katie's Cars & Coffee Thread - Great Falls, VA
rcollum replied to rcollum's topic in Mid-Atlantic
It rained early this morning, but cleared up by 5:30AM. That always causes people to arrive later than usual to cars & coffee. I arrived at my usual time, and was the first one there, by almost 10 minutes. Michael D. had his Seven there, and it's for sale - http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?11551-2000-Caterham-For-Sale --Bob Collum -
Father's day at Fairfax Circle (Cameron's). We only had a total of about 12 cars there this morning, but it did include 3 NoVA Lotus members (though not all at once...) Greg Smoak brought his VW bug, and Bob Scates drove his Esprit. --Bob Collum

Another beautiful morning, another terrific turnout at Katie's. It still astounds me that we regularly have vehicles none of us have seen before! (That gold Alvis certainly qualifies!) The last picture is of a couple of my favorite cars there today. (I think I have windshield envy!) --Bob Collum -

I will be at Katie's on 06/10, but not on 6/17. I'd love to have a much of Sevens there!!! (Maybe more? We've had three Sevens at a GYLO there before, more than once. Never more than three. Sounds like we can have a REALLY big Seven turnout for Kevin McGovern's party this fall!) Congrats on your purchase, Dermot! --Bob Collum -

Correct! This is a recreation of the Low Drag Coupe. According to what the owner told us, this might be the car (the registration matches, anyway) - http://sia-group.co.uk/2015/01/team-nero-1962-jaguar-e-type-3-8-litre-low-drag-coupe/ --Bob Collum -

Here is one reason I think Katie's is worth getting up early every Saturday. First, a 'steampunk' rat rod. Second, who knows what this car is? --Bob Collum -

Some fabulous vehicles at Katie's today. This small sampling just scratches the surface. New & old, large & small. --Bob Collum -

The one that showed up yesterday belongs to the really nice guy who used to own the local Ferrari dealer. We have actually had two show up on the same day... The 'second' F40 has an aftermarket dual-element rear wing. --Bob Collum -

Some pictures from the Barber Museum on Saturday. I just love the 1:1 plastic mold tree of the Seven on display. It reminds me of the backdrop used on Top Gear, several years ago. Dean Giacopazzi's Seven. Ron Flier, posing with a Cosworth engine. If you know Ron, ask him about why he is 'touching' the Cosworth! Finally, a bunch of Sevens - up front at the concours! --Bob Collum

Al: I was unable to bring my Seven; we drove the Elise. I hope to have both at Cleveland (where LOG 38 will be held August 10th thru 13th in 2018). Maybe we can meet then! --Bob Collum

I have a lot of pictures left to be processed; will post some when I get home. Here's day 1, at Talladega Superspeedway... --Bob Collum

We were lucky enough last Sunday (for GYLO) to have no rain. We were not quite at lucky today at Katie's. It was 49 degrees when I arrived at 5:30AM - it was still 49 degrees when I went home at 7:30AM. I met a couple of friends for breakfast, and we left when it became apparent that most people stayed away. Still, there were some interesting vehicles... --Bob Collum -

The first Saturday of May - very clear and pleasant when I arrived, but it clouded up. Raid was predicted, but for later today. That was enough to keep lots of people away; we didn't have more than the front lot, barely full. Still, some good stuff! Don't forget: GYLO (Get Your Lotus Out) is Sunday, May 7th, 9AM - 11AM, right here at Katie's, lower lot. Lots of cars, lots of people, prizes and surprises! I try to never miss Katie's. This morning, it was in the 60's at 5:30AM. Spring is here! Here are some vehicles we had not seen before - the Chevy Woody was very nice. UMBC brought two Baja Buggies, this one with the sidewall-less tires. Mike, here with the Ducati he just bought back after about 20 years, plans to take this bike to El Mirage Lake this summer, to seek a class world speed record with it - good luck! --Bob Collum P.S.: Do not miss GYLO 13 (Get Your Lotus Out) here at Katie's lower parking lot, on Sunday, May 7th, 9AM - 11AM. The weather for Sunday looks great... We hope to have plenty of Lotus cars and people there, and there will be A LOT OF BEAUTIFUL BRITISH VEHICLES! You should come, even if your Lotus is not currently operational. I have no idea how many people will be at BoG with Lotus, but the Yows say they have at least 13 RSVPs for their after-BoG cookout. Thanks, Jessica & Caleb! --Bob Collum -
