inchoate Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Does anyone know if Caterham keeps any sort of records for the cars it sells? I've got an '87 and I'm curious about how it was speced when it was ordered. Is it worth getting in touch with them or is 30 years too long for them to have kept anything?
Croc Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 They definitely have records in a less than perfect sorted fashion. The LowFlying Magazine of the L7 Club of UK featured a story on the club historian accessing these records and showing examples of details of correspondence, invoices, etc. from the 1970s. I would definitely reach out to Caterham and inquire. The worst they can say is no.
Ian7 Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I sent Caterham in England a picture of my chassis plate, and they wrote back confirming my car didnt exist, which only cemented the feelings I had developed for the Caterham "dealer" I'd bought from.
inchoate Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 Finding out that your car is a fake is no fun at all. I've also thought about joining the UK 7 club. They seem to have a fair amount of information available for members. $75 is pretty steep though.
